Air pump removal Question
 

I just recently removed my air pump. I was wondering what I should do with the pipe that used to go out the back of the air pump to the exhaust.
Should I cap it off? Hook it up to something?

I just removed my air pump and all emmissions stuff yesterday. You should remove those hard pipes on the pass side of the LIM, but will need block off plates. One pipe goes to the LIM from the air pump, the other goes from the air filter to the ACV which is bolted to the LIM under the UIM. You should remove the UIM, then remove the ACV and remove those hard pipes and replace with block off plates. You will need to remove the 2nd (rear) turbo intake hard metal pipe to get to the bolts to remove the hard pipes that was connected to the air pump. You could also easily remove the ypipe now to remove the egr and block that off also if you have one. And remove the AWS stuff using the block off plates, I got mine from rx7store.net. I also removed everything else to use all the block off plates that came with the kit.

Or yes you could simply just cap it off. The pipe goes from the air pump to the lower intake manifold, then there is a seperate pipe that bolts to the back of the LIM that goes to the exhaust - you could leave that pipe alone if you wanted, or remove it and make your own block off plate for it like I had to do because the kit I bought did not include a bop for that pipe going back to the cat.

just know that it is pointless to have the ACV in the car without the airpump, and the cat will go bad much quicker without the air pump it is supposed to have. So if you remove the airpump, you might as well remove everything including the cat (I suggest replace with a resonated midpipe, I am happy with mine from rx7store.net), the ACV, egr, and everything else you can with the block off plates. It all make things much simpler, but if you have never done any work on the car yet it will take you a while to do all this, not too hard though.

Removing the airpump creates some nice space in the engine bay, but I'm told it can also create a domino effect of other issues. Like if you remove the cat and replace with a mid-pipe, you'll need good boost control. Not to mention odor and noise, idle quality, and the need for a pulley replacement or shorter belts.
