air pump question

i have run searches, but cant find this out i have one silly questsion... the air pump in an fd..... is it's only function to aid in emission control???? if not what else does it do????

It supplies air to the cat under low load conditions to help both emissions and to extend cat life. It also injects air to the intake at idle.

Removing it will kill your cat if you're still running one and may require you to play with your idle to get it right.

Sorry to steal your thread but I also have a question on this subject...If i have a full exaust and remove the airpump..will i still have to tweak the idle a little?

I'm assuming you have a PFC or other tunable ecu if you are running a full exhaust. It's pretty easy to tune the idle better with that.....

If you don't have a PFC or other tunable ecu, shame on you! :)

yeah i do have a PFC :) ..so ok thanks no biggie adjusting the idle

If you have full exhaust. You must do some work on motor or port the wastegate coz it will cause turbo creep.
