Air Pump Mod

Crazy question here. Has anyone ever thought of converting the smog pump into a low power supercharger to feed air at low RPM? Before I do the math, I want to see what other people think.

Anyone????

Not even close to worth your time.

maybe if you forced it to stay on at all times. but seriously, import convert is right. the weight/hp level doesnt equal the weight/hp level of a new turbo. then, you gotta tune it. and it probably is highly inefficient, too.

You'd probably have better luck using your A/C compressor and use a very very very small pulley on it and it probably wouldn't hurt to grease the muffler bearings.

I was wondering about that too. Or what if you could rig it just to help pump hot air out of the engine bay or something. Oh well ... mine doesnt work.

I already greased the muffler bearings. I got at least another 15hp by using synthetic.
