Air pump/Mid pipe question.
 

Hello all,
I am removing my air pump soon and know I need to do something about the line going to the mid pipe. I was thinking it would be a good time to talk myself into getting a high flow cat.

So my question is what high flow cat out there doesnt sure the air pump?
And is swapping out the mid pipe worth it?

Typically if you are removing the airpump, you remove everything that goes with it and block them off with block-off plates:

People have used the Metallic Substrate cats without the airpump. IMO, a good setup is the Bonez setup:

They have a package to get the downpipe and hi-flo cat together. You can then add the catback of your choice.

RE-amemiya has a cat which is to be used with the removal of the air pump..check it out.. or remove it completely

i dont know if this is a dumb question or not, but can the airpump be removed with still keeping the stock cat?

Technically? Sure. However, you do run the risk of shortening the life of the catalytic converter without the airpump. I'm not saying it will fail, but there is the risk. Also, without the airpump, you won't pass any kind of emissions testing with a ceramic cat. I've heard of people passing emissions without an airpump using a metallic substrate cat but I have not witnessed it myself.

no emissions in the county i live in :) i think i will do the airpump eliminaition when i put in my midpipe and not bother with it right now.
