This sounds too fishy to me. Sounds like they were trying to milk some more money out of you. Whoever worked on it was probably hoping the motor would go so you can just leave them your check book.

Nuvolari 10-27-06 11:11 AM

Even in my wildest nightmare I cant see thats the case here . They built the motor I have now.
I honesty think this is just some oversights that created a bigger problem.

GoodfellaFD3S 10-27-06 11:49 AM

Too bad you weren't closer, Ihor and i can fix all these minor issues you're having.

Honestly man, I think it's time to get your hands dirty :)

i feel your pain~! my car was just there and has to come back. it took them over five days to seel my oil pan, which i think is still leaking. i ashed them to help me out with my boost controler that i got from them, and all they did is take it out and put it in my seat. the reason behind this was "we just didnt have the time?" on top of that i have to go back to fix my motor mounts which will probably rape my wallet of about $600 or so. most of the time i get something done with them, i have to go back to have it fixed because they just didnt pay attention to what they where doing. im really starting to think that they dont give a shit about you, or the cars we take so much pride in just the almighty $

Nuvolari 10-27-06 12:15 PM

Yeah, I wish I could do more on my own. I have limited strength in my hands due to a accident I had a few years ago. So I can do some stuff but to be honest I am chicken to touch anyhting related to my fuel system.

Improved FD 10-27-06 12:27 PM

most generic mechanics aren't very good at diagnosing/troubleshooting an atypical problem, they just go by a "cookbook".....if it's not in the cookbook, they can't figure it out

I know a few guys at the shop that know my screen name and I expect they have read some of this post. Don’t take it personally its about the quality of the work not the quality of the person. Again it’s not a leverage tool for me but I was so disappointed with the situation I find myself in I have to vent to the 3rd gen "support group".

I got the FD back, some things are resolved. The torn cooling hoses were replaced , but my EGT gauge is still broken; they didn’t get the new sensor in so it needs to go back next week. They told me they tore down the fuel system replaced o rings, however when I made it home and the car was still leaking fuel. Same spot same amount.

I still have some other outstanding issues like my e-brake but I am so disappointed at this point it’s hard to keep a positive attitude. No test and tune this weekend at Mason Dixon , so MIR on the 5th isn’t going to happen . That’s f-ed up

I was thinking about this quote, is it me that’s insane for taking my car back to them or them for not finding a way to locate the fuel leak ?

Albert Einstein: “ Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...0jazyk20cb.jpg

Your quote on Einstein is spot on!!

However, I want to put a different twist to it. The insanity comes from members of this forum who don't recieve good service and don't complain about it, hoping that something will change!!

The insanity comes from NOT CALLING OUT the shops that are doing bad work!!!

HAVING SAID THAT LET ME CLARIFY:

I can understand when a screw up occurs and if the shop is willing to make it right then fine, no harm no foul. But if a shop doesn't correct its mistakes or continues to charge you for work that you have all ready paid for, then I say call them out!!

If you don't, other forum members are going to suffer when they take their cars to that shop!! All it takes is for several members of this forum start writing up their experiences and describe what they went through and maybe, just maybe, these shops will start to clean up their act, especially since some of the shops have employees who are members. Besides, these cars are expensive to maintain and to upgrade. There are many members of this forum who don't know how to work on the car (and I am one of them). We need to have shops that have mechanics who know what they are doing and can do the work right the first time!!

Like I said before, screw ups are going to occur, but if the screw ups continue then members of this forum need to know about it. I think that going to a place on this web site where I can read about a shop before I take my FD there it would really help. The Better Business Bureau does this. You can go to their site and look up a business to see the number of complaints listed, and the BBB will also tell you if the number of complaints are normal for that company!

This community of FD owners is a small one - we depend on the shops and they depend on us!!

Right now it looks like the shop is trying to do the right thing. Time will tell and hopefully you will let us know the final outcome. And if that final outcome is not to your satisfaction that name the shop!!

I am stepping down from my soapbox!!

Hope it all works out for you.

Aint that the truth.

Ihor is gonna be my next person to call when i need help. IM sick of spending money and the job is not even done!!

God im soo stupid for not calling him in the first place.

Andrew, sorry about all the troubles you've been having. If my guess is right as to which shop this is, I'm very confident that the owner will not do you wrong. He's a very standup guy and I think very highly of him based not just on rep, but also on experience. Unfortunately, however, even the best shops may have 2nd tier hands helping out, which is often what brings a shop down.

Keep us posted, and again, I'm confident you'll get her back soon enough running 100% fine.

All the best,
~Ramy

PS: I can attest to Andrew's car being practically MINT. Reminds me of mine... (minus the engine bay lol)

I got really heated when the "reputable" shop that put in my alarm took my car out for a spin....If it had come back with any sort of damage I would have probably gone postal. I would not be going back to this shop If I was you, less because of the problems overlooked, more because they went joyriding in your car. I can see test driving the car to make sure everything is in working order, but it sounds like it was a lot more than that :(

no offense intended...you're not in the Carolinas last time I checked

there is plenty of work to go around....Ernst is booked and so is Rotorsports

Outkast 10-29-06 01:51 AM

Sorry about your troubles. This is so interesting, having gone from a know nothing rotary loving kid that got repeatedly ripped off REALLY BAD, to a technician in the last ten years.
There are always two sides to a story. Here is my 2 cents:

1. Some reputable shops have total assclown monkeys working for them
2. Some customers have no clue about cars and accuse shops and mechanics of dumb shit
3. Quality mechanic work is expensive, techs dont make that much but is still costs a lot
to the customer and it's normal
4. It really really sucks to be ripped off for hundreds and thousands of dollars on a car you love and take car of by scumbag shop owners and ass monkey mechanics

I have no idea about this shop is or what happened, but in GENERAL:
It really sucks having to work with monkey ass clowns that get paid almost as much as you and then asshole customers come in and look at a good honest tech as if you are one of the incompetent ghetto fucks. Technicians have feelings too. :(

sucks
