aftermarket fuel door that fits the FD?
 

my fuel door got 'blowed up' and I also removed the fuel door opening latch system (this is on my track car)...so i am looking for an aftermarket, thumb open fuel door...somthing like this:

If I recall, Audi TT fuel door will work with FD's and has similar look as ones above.

But done quote me on this as I'm just remembering things from the past.

Yes, but can you seal that one against some random person trying to tamper with it, or stick something that is not fuel in there?

I broke my door off a few years ago and replaced with one of those. Got it from JC Whitney for closer to $60. Not cheap but less than the stock piece by $50. You lose the in-car release. I will take a look tonight to see what part no/mfg it was, if you like. If you do some grinding you can make it fit better. Just take your time and check frequently against the opening in the 1/4 panel. Secure bracket with JB Weld or some such on the inside. Also I left a slight gap at the bottom for gas or water to drain out.

Hey Herblenny, would you still be able to pump gas at a regular gas station with that setup?

As above, IIRC, the Audi TT ones fit very nice...same curvature. Forgot which biglister has it. Also, someone did the previous model Eclipse one....didn't look as nice but didn't cost as much neither.

I have no clue. I know Damian tracks his car and figure he might want something like that.

Better person to ask will be Resource, as it was something he posted awhile back.

Ryans car still isn't finished and neither is the valve so I wouldn't know :rlaugh:

Damien doesn't drive his on the street so why would he have to worry about people sticking things in his tank?

this is for my track car so that Dry Brake Valve racing type valve is interesting, however im still usign the stock tank and filler location, so im not looking for that extreame ...yet :-)

ok now that I looked at the audi TT one, i cant use it sice its opened wiht the latch mechanizm, and not just a thum open one, I have removed that opening system, so i need a 'thumb' open one, ill check jcwhitney.

JC Whitney does not list the part I bought any more. The one I got is made by Smittybuilt - and I could not find their part number. That last post looks like and is priced like the one I have. I think mine was advertized for a Ford or Chevy pickup in JCW and I took a change that I could make it fit. I'll take another look tonight for the original order/packing slip.
BTW I noticed the Viper chrome cap looks real nice and might be made to fit. Bet they cost a penny.

yeah see if oyu can find the part number, i got the usmmit one today and it looks way to big. ill know for sure when i test fit it tonight.

Found the invoice from JCW. Their part no 506778. Mfg part no listed as 75010.
