Aftermarket amp grounding point
I asked this in the interior/exterior section. I mounted an amp in my car and have tried a couple of points that I thought would be good grounds, but came back empty handed. I know power and signal are ok because if I run a wire back to the battery it powers up. Just wondering where you guys who have aftermarket stereos ground your amps to?

Hmm ok I guess I'll just have to play around with a few more spots. Thanks

I used one of the studs and nuts from the bose sub mounting points.

You have to have metal-to-metal contact, so you need make sure that any paint or other barrier between your grounding terminal and the body sheet metal is removed. It's also good practice to put a bit of silicone over the connection when finished to protect it from oxidation. |
Well I tried the stud in the scissor jack compartment, as well as drilling a hole right into the sheet metal by the spare, sanding down to bare metal or at least I thought so. It was late when I did it so maybe I missed some and it screwed me up.
