Advice on chroming engine parts
Hello Guys.
Just wanted to get some of your input on what other parts can be chrome in the rx7 engine. I've been corresponding with the chrome shop by email. So its hard to know what parts need to be chrome without physically being there. Are there any other parts to which I can chrome? I've so far done the following so far: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...cf9451f615.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...7d83f69180.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...be76643a38.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a788698036.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...11320bb78b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a8393de3e9.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...0d7320d57d.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...73d5f47cc1.jpg Cheers Jase |
Doesn't chrome insulate rather than dissipate? If that's the case some of those components should not be chromed.
But in any case they look great. Having stuff polished is a pain in the ass to upkeep. |
Looks really nice, but yeah, chrome holds the heat in and doesn't dissipate it very well. Some of those parts (especially those with coolant inside them) I wouldn't have chromed.
I know alloy is a pain to polish, but it dissipates heat better. "its hard to know what parts need to be chrome" |
Cheers for the feedback dudes.

The army-green colored fan relay bracket, cruise actuator brackets would be candidates IMO. The two engine pull rings, metal brake booster vacuum line could also go shiny. Stock hose clamps maybe.

I'd rather re-cadmium coat or copy-cad things than chrome them personally.
