adjusted camber and something doesnt seem right
 

I adjusted my camber today and its a great improvement from what it was by the looks of it.

When you drive thing its a whole different story. The car wants to pull itself left right all over the place. I am guessing its just the alighnment, but it seems really bad.

Do you thinks its an alighnment or something I did wrong? Anyone had this experiance?

It only did this when I adjust the front.

How did you adjust the camber? Did you just crank the eccentric bolts to move the lower control arm out (away from the car)? This is the wrong way to do it.

Did you check your Toe setting after changing camber? Changing the camber will change the Toe. Toe out makes the car jump around and feel unstable. Some Toe out makes the car turn in really well at low speeds but makes high speed handling less stable.

If you did the alignment at home (no machines, etc) I'd really recommend getting an alignment done at a real shop.

I would expect you to get toe-in if you increased the negative camber without adjusting the steering tie rods, which should actually stabilize the car at the expense of turn-in. But lots of negative camber will make the car darty as the insides of the tires get more weight on them, which is a de-stabilizing change.

I also think you should get a shop to do the alignment settings with their measurement machines and stuff. People usually laugh when I suggest this, but Sears has very good alignment machines if you are looking for someplace to get an alignment. If you can talk to the alignment guy about the settings you want, you might be able to get the alignment you want without screwing up the toe and caster settings.

speaking of susp., does anyone have any pics of a f*cked up rear susp.? i slid into a curb a few weeks ago... i know the camber is all screwed up (it's like 10 positive degrees), but i just want something to compare to, if my control arm or anything else is shot.... i haven't really taken a look at it, just a quick glance, and i'm not a suspension guru so i can't tell what's broke and what's ok (apart from something broken in half)...TIA

I was told by a bunch of people to loosen the bolts the are connected to the adjuster that looks like a silver dollar.
I basically moved it till my tires looked straight.

If thats the wrong way to do it how do I fix it?
My tires were really bad. The front two tires were slanted very noticeably.
How else would you fix the tire when its that slanted?
I did this to the rear with no problems.

Take it to an alignment shop. Stop guessing. You won't get what you want or what works.

When adjusting the front camber your actually supposed to move the two different adjustments in opposite directions.

Jimmy. Look at the other side of the car, compare the parts on the left vs. right. You should be able to spot your problem.

You can not adjust camber without affecting caster and toe. If it pulls left than you need to add caster to the left side. It really should be done on an alignment machine. If you changed your rear camber than your rear toe will be off too, probally toe out condition. That will make the car unstable also. Good Luck Jeff
