add coolant light and buzzer
 

i just changed my intercooler and radiator out from stock to aftermarket. i have everything back in place and my fluid level in the rad appears to be full,but when i turn the key to the start position about ten seconds later my add coolant buzzer starts to go off. if i turn the key off then back again it does the same thing every time. anyone have any ideas what may cause this?

You probably unpluged the the other connector for that sensor, the one behind the power steering pump.

just went out and checked,everything is pluged in. i will go out and spend some more time on it later the weather here is getting bad. THANK YOU for the reply.

If you've confirmed that everything is full, the sensor is plugged in, and you trust your instruments- run it for a few minutes (up to operating temperature) and see if the the buzzer shuts off. I've had that problem after changing fluid or cleaning the engine.

i will do that. i have not brought it up to operating temp yet. every time the buzzer went off i would shut it down. THANKS i hope this works.

You likely just need to burp the system better, every time the car runs it will continue to burp air out of the system, the air rises and the fluid level drops causing the buzzer to come on. You need to check the fluid level at the coolant filler neck. With an after market radiator it requires at least 2 full gallons of water/coolant to be full, some of the larger after market radiators require even more.

Yes, what DJ said. There must be air in the system. I burped mine over a week...probably about 3 times total. After each cycle it'll be low at the filler neck so just top it off and run it again. And I also ran the heater full blast (to move it through the heater core?) when warming up the car. Good luck!

okay..... i am starting to get frustrated. yesterday morning i started it up and it ran about 3 min and then the buzzer went off. i have brung the car up to temp,let it cool,fill it a little and repeat. i have done this till it will not take any more coolant. today i replaced the rad and ast caps got the car up to temp and am now letting it cool to check the coolant level one more time. what has me confused is that when every thing is toped off and the car is NOT running and i turn the key to the start position without starting the car after about ten seconds the buzzer starts to sound off. it doesn't matter if i start the car or not after about ten seconds it goes off. why did it run yesterday morn for a few minutes before going off and now only a few seconds? sorry for the long read.........i am VERY frustrated.

Sounds like you have an issue with the sensor or wiring to the sensor. You could have a broken/cut line that is making contact sometimes and sometimes not. I would start with replacing the sensor, I had a car that would do exactly what you say, sometimes it would take 2-10 minutes before the buzzer would come on, sometimes it would happen right away and sometimes it wouldnt even come on. I call Ray at Malloy and paid $3x.00 for a new sensor and all was well.

okay.....problem solved!! it IS the low coolant level sensor. THANKS to everyone who gave advice.

u may have a bubble
