ACT Extreme PP
 

I had an ACT Extreme PP/disk replaced in my car about 3000 miles ago. The clutch worked fine except it would engage right off the floor. I adjusted the clutch linkage all the way out and still no diffference as it was almost al the way out anyhow. I then replaced the master clutch cylinder and slave. No difference... Anybody else have this issue with the ACT Extreme PP/disk?

I'm looking for other options as this is a street driven car and I don't want heavy pedal pressure as my wife also drives the car now and then. The car is making about 400 to the wheels.

I have the same clutch with no problems. I don't understand what you mean when you say heavy pedal pressure, my 105lb gf can drive the car fine...

It's just the characteristic of the clutch. I have an act extreme pp/ unsprung 6 puck. There is no problem just an aggressive clutch.

No offense but you bought an Xtreme PP, the key word is Xtreme. That's just how the clutch is going to be. I have the same one and I love it, it grabs so good.

I used to run an ACT Xtreme PP as well. The scenario you described sounds more like your clutch fork partially cracked and is engaging the clutch really low. If the clutch fork was original and you installed a more aggressive clutch, it often leads to a broken clutch fork. The newer clutch forks are reinforced to prevent breakage.

I agree on the clutch fork. I also have the extreme PP with 6 puck sprung clutch and to tell you truth i am going back to the carbon disk.

I was hoping to find a cracked fork when I took it apart originally, it's fine.

As far as it be "extreme" it still should be adjustable as any other clutch whic right now is the problem.

What clutch disc are you using with the Extreme PP?

If it's that easy, then is it really an extreem?

I have a bona-fide ACT extreem and it IS heavy by any standard. While it's fine for me, there are people that can't drive it--some valets included. Eveything has got to be tight and rigid with this clutch, any slop at all may prevent it from fully releasing and/or cause it to feel as though it's engaging too low.

The extreem is > 2800# plate, whereas the stocker is aprox 1900#; that's a pretty significant increase in load (150% of stock) for which the stock linkage probably isn't designed. I had to beef everything up in the linkage for it to feel and work correctly.

IMO, the extreem is really too heavy for a daily driver....particularly in stop and go traffic, and it probably isn't necessary. According to most of the posts I've read where this has been debated, the consensus seems to be that the ACT standard HD clutch cover is plenty adequate and a better choice.
