acid bath

So today I gave my intake a bath in Blitz aluminum cleaner (Phosphoric acid):) Cleaned up well. However when I was In there with the intake apart It became apparent the intake ports where poorly matched and had a littel lip around it, some of it had come off at some point. Its hard to see

Any way has anyone got a safe template for port matching the intake?

you can use gasket as template for porting

damn, i thought you were talking about the band.

did you just dip the entire intake? how long?

I removed everything off it first then dipped the hole thing for about 10 min.
The pic is a before one

Any way I was hoping for something better then the gasket

If the UIM runners are smaller than the LIM runners you are probably best off leaving it or preparing for more work.

If you port match the UIM to the LIM and assemble the pieces with the stock slop it will likely be worse flow as there will be a lip from the UIM to LIM if there is any misalignment. It is much better to have a step from smaller to larger in terms of flow.

You can match port and locate with a dowel for positive alignment as I did. Put the alignment dowel in first and then begin the match porting.

It is best to have no step in either direction in terms of the acoustics (DEI effect).
