AC Out of Service
Hey
I installed the PFC recently, and when learning the idle, I noticed my AC wasn't working. When I push it, the light inside the AC switch doesn't light up. So, I checked the AC fuse (in the fuse box in the engine bay) and it's OK. Then I checked the AC relay (in the nose of the engine bay) and it 'seems' OK too. I say 'seems' because the relay is working, I can hear it, but the resistance is a bit high though : 4 ohms so I'm not really sure. I tested with another good relay (the gas pump) and the AC didn't work again, but the engine being off, I'm not sure if it's a good test. I think I will check the AC compressor now, or maybe there is another fuse or relay I forgot that may be in cause ? |
Swap the stock ECU back in and see if the AC works. If so, do some research on the PowerFC AC fix. This is a common problem with the PowerFC.

Oh ! I didn't even think about the ECU being the cause.
I'll do it and post the result here Thanks Dale |
Also, check the cigar fuse in the cabin.

I had my AC push switch go bad on my 92 FD when returning home from 2011 Deals Gap RX7 meet.
Had to re-push it once in a while. to make it reset. Purchased the parts from a wrecked FD from a member on the forum. |
So I swapped the stock ECU back in, but unfortunately the AC switch didn't light up...
I checked the cigar fuse, it looked ok but I swapped it with another 15amps in good condition (the sunroof one, since I don't have a sunroof) but again, AC switch still doesn't work. I will check the actual switch and/or the compressor later. Actually it's no big deal, because I wanted to remove the AC. (I already removed the condenser and the canister) It's just that I wanted to complete the pfc idle learning with AC on for 10 minutes, but I guess it will be ok only with the idle+rear defrost. |
