ABS Working?
 

I was on another long drive a couple of days ago. I saw a car in front of me fish in the rain. Suddenly it popped into my mind that I have no idea how my car will behave on a rain slicked road, on a curve, if I had to stop hard.

Has anyone ever triggered their ABS?

How did the car behave? Was it as advertised? Full control, while maintaining the ability to steer? Or did it still slide about?

I test mine on a regular basis (Auto -X), works as described. Easy enough to test.

The ABS works pretty well, but don't think it will "drive the car for you". There are still weight transfer issues and the car can still lose directional stability. If you are cornering hard and nail the brakes, the rear is going to come out on you, ABS or no ABS. However, you will stop shorter in dry or wet with it, and you will have greater steering control than without ABS.

It's no traction control or even a 4-channel ABS though, so don't expect miracles in tricky situations, you still have to drive the car.

I think it does the front brakes indivdually but not the rear.

Right, the FD has 3-channel ABS.

That's what I thought... I used to test the ABS on my Rodeo and it would be all over the place "on dry pavement." So, I never had the desire to test the ABS on the 94 in the slick when moving pretty fast.

My experience with the Rodeo was that the pedal also pulsated like hell and the noise was horendus.

I've gone through my ABS system . and everything seems to be in order. but my ABS orange light wont turn off is there any reset ?

I drove my car for the first time yesterday after rescuing the car

and I tried the brakes I didn't try them crazy hard being that it was the first time driving the car , But they didn't lock up .. now I'm wondering if its just lack of resin on the brakes / not braking hard enough / Abs working despite the orange ABS light being turned on
