ABS Pump Leaking, can it be fixed? Pics
Been losing break fluid, now finding that it is a leak at the ABS pump area.
Fluid is pooling around the middle, if you can see it. Seems to be leaking more lately, so it's more than a drip. Can it be repaired or does it require replacing the unit? Searched, but only found one '03 thread with similar issue. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...ABSLeak003.jpg http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...ABSLeak001.jpg Thanks for any help |
The FSM says you can "inspect" and "repair or replace" parts-- but I haven't found anything about how to check what.

I'm having the same problem. I bought a used one off eBay and that one leaked too! I'm thinking of doing abs delete kit. From what I've read they can't be rebuilt

There are O-rings in the pump that's supposedly fixable. But, really, leaky ABS pumps on FD's are VERY uncommon.
Buy a known-good ABS pump off someone on the forum, install, and be done with it. The ABS delete kit is one way to go, but for a street car ABS is a VERY good thing and a significant safety feature. Dale |
I have the exact same problem on my 04 FD, after changing the left rear caliper, the pump started leaking, I guess it's just old.
I m looking for a used pump too, what did u do to urs? |
Ill sell you my abs pump if youd like. Its on my car and is great working shape. off a 93. pm me.

you should clean it and trace the leak, it may just be the crush sleeves. mine were leaking and I replaced those and no more leak.

Yes the only fix for that leak is to contact Fritz  same happened to mine, and if it goes unnoticed for to long the ABS fluid will start eating away at the paint & undercoating. As mentioned before I bought a low mileage unit from Fritz.
ABS pump came from a car that currently has 72k miles on it but it was removed at least 5k miles ago so safely say no more than 68k miles on the pump. $135 for this pump pictured. I have 3 other pumps that look equally as good and one that's REALLY NICE with under 10k miles of use but it's pricey $250 |
Hey Fritz...
Do you have anymore ABS pumps ??? |
