ABS pump leaking

My ABS and brake system is perfectly functional but I just noticed the ABS pump leaking a couple weeks ago. Anybody ever taken one apart? Mazda has no part numbers for anything other than the entire pump; I checked the parts fiche. Seems to me it's leaking at the bottom of the "cylinders" which face the motor. Not enough fluid to worry about yet, but it sure won't fix itself.

There can't be anything but o-rings in there, but I don't want to take the pump apart and find it's full of dozens of little bits that go all over the floor when I open it up. New pump from Mazdaspeed Motorsports is $900 and I don't want to buy a used one since it will probably just leak after a while too. My car is raced a lot and I feel that maybe the constant high brake pressures just caused it to leak.

Anything "exotic" inside of these things?

Don't know about what's inside but mine used to leak too. I saw a post on the forum about tightening the bolts that hold the whole thing together. I did that and my leak stopped. You need a metric torks head to fit the bolts and just tighten them down. The leak is gone now, so it worked for me. Several of mine were really loose. Try that before you rip it apart or spend $900 - $1200 on a new one.

Thanks. I have not checked that but I always assume I don't have that kind of luck. I'll check 'em.

Damon,
Any luck with the bolts on the pump?

Nope. Checked them a couple nights ago and they are certainly tight. I guess the next course of action is to open it up but I don't want to do that in the middle of racing season right now.
