ABS light came on on my 93
As the title states, my ABS light came on on my 93 and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. So I took the car to Mazda (which was probaby a mistake) and they said it was the ABS pump. So I found a used ABS pump and swaped it out, however that did not turn the light off. I thought that maybe the light just needs to be reset, but Mazda said that the ABS light is a light that can not be reset, and once you fix the problem it should just turn off. Any suggestions?

Sensors
You've got 4 ABS wheel sensors. 1 to all 4 could be the prob.. Check each..

The light resets every time you shut the engine off.
Did your replacement pump (I imagine your actually referring to the complete hydro mechanical unit) come with the pump & valve relays installed? Or did you swap your old relays over? I had a pump motor relay that used to stick when it got hot (aggravated from track use, didn't act up on the street) I would pull the ABS fuses & wait 20-30 minutes. Reinstall the fuses & the cooled down relay would function normal again. Light would go out. Ended up replacing both relays in the Hydro/mech unit & all is good now. |
Mybaby - How do I go about checking the wheel sensors?
Sled Driver - I did replace the whole hydo mechanical unit, including all the relays. The light is on all the time, from the moment I turn the key on, to the moment I turn the key off. I also cheacked all the fuses. Is it possible I missed one? |
I've had that happen when the brakes were not properly bled.
Yes, taking your FD to a dealer was a mistake. As you now know, they know nothing. Do a search, there is good information on the ABS light. |
My abs light comes on sometimes when i go over a railroad track or hit a bump.:asian:
