about to order a new motor help!!!
hi,
i am about to order a new motor from atkins because the way this deal will happen is convienient to me. basiclly, i blew all three of my apex seals in the rear rotor. i will send them my motor and they wil send me one that is already built to my specs which are 3mm seals and a mild streetport. it comes with a 2 year 24k mile warrenty. i want to know if it is a good price and if they are a good shop. it will cost $3300 for the new motor which includes: new housings new seals basic rebuild stuff 3mm apex seals small streetport( intake, exh) resurface flywheel new oil pan with new seal. this is the price if they receive my motor first and they pay for the shipping on that one. then they can ship over my new engine and the price i gave is with shipping to california included. is this a good deal. the reason why i want it is that when i have the money (3-4 weeks) i want this to happen quick. the way they do it is very fast for me. also, i have another engine so i was wondering if they will accept 2 cores which they buy for $900 each??? please help me!!!!!!! |
Man, you need to do better research. Atkins builds shitty motors, several people have had problems with them. You need to get a rebuild from a reputable shop like KD Rotary, Pineapple, Mazdatrix, etc.
Just trying to keep you from wasting your money. |
2mm seals are better.

check out pineappleracing.com. they have a great reputation and are relatively close to you.

That you've 2 blown engines tells me that something isn't right. Second, fix the problem first and in conjunction with the new motor. Third, I think Atkins does alot of engine for airplanes. I would go with someone else with more experience in road and race engines. |

give the guys at www.gothamracing.com a call. they do good work and have experience in building stock to high horsepower engines.

thanks for all your help guys but i have another question, which company does a good job really fast?
also i am 25 minutes away from tri point and rotary power?? what do you think. jeff at rotary power is really good. he figured out my boost problem when tri point was charging $725. i heard tri point is good too. noew it is betwen tri-point, rotary power, pineappleracing, atkins (not sure),gotham racing??? are there any good ones. have you guys heard any bad stories abut these?? sorry for all the questions but i want to do it once and do it right. bi the way ferrari, my problem was that i boosted about 19 lbs and didnt have enough fuel. i got a new fuel pump, injectors and a coputer already. |
Pineapple all the way. They have great, GREAT prices. Check them out.

What about rotary reliablility and racing?
I've heard good stuff about them too. Thinking of getting mine done there |
Just one suggestion, if u can get ahold of this short block it would be the best one u can get.
Get a rebuilt engine frome Re-Amemiya, it's a japanese company but they make all the parts them self including the apex seals, and iv'e heard u can boost up to 2.4 bar on it. That's over 33psi. And iv'e also heard that they last long :))) Im gonna order one this winter. |
if you want fast, get a motor from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda. He can usually have it to you in days. Price is about $2,000 plus $100-200 shipping. You have to send him a core of course.
From what I have read on here, he seems like the best option rather than having a good tuner rebuild your motor which costs more $$. |
I can tell you from my experience with both Malloy Mazda and KDRotary, that both are great. I had a Malloy reman. motor send to KDR for porting. The whole thing cost me roughly $4500, and I have nothing but good things to say about both Ray Crowe, and all of the guys at KDR.

I haven't had a problem with Atkins Rotary. I say they
do a good job and they have the knowledge needed. But you must research the prices between each shop. Go for the best pricing but also has a good rep. Jp |
i agree...rotary reliability and racing is a great choice...very experienced guys...
7148398018 ask for nick or louis www.rotaryracing.com they built my motor and did a lot of work on my machine. j |
joel and pineapple racing, do it right
