? about motor sitting for 2 years

I am considering purchasing 2 cars form a friend, and both have been sitting for about two years. The guy who has the cars says if they sit for very long they will need new engines.

1st= 94 twin turbo rx-7, 70k miles, super nice, solid black w/ black and tan interior. automatic, had a small engine fire under the plenum.

2nd= 94 twin turbo rx-7, 80k miles, power fc, aftermarket exhaust, gauges, intake. hit pretty hard in the rear.

he was going to take the 5spd stuff from the second car to convert the auto but, lost interest.

a lot can happen in two years...

seals will stick, carbon lock, etc.....

If they are fresh builds, never ran... thats fine. But I wouldn't use anything that has been sitting for that long.

When I had my reman, it was sitting for a couple months, but once a month I would put a little bit of ATF, or oil inside the engine and turn it over manually a few times, just to keep things lubed.

When I'd start it up, I'd let it burn out all that stuff, change the oil with some cheapass oil, run it around for 10-15 miles, and then replace the oil again.

But, 2 years of sitting... good luck.
