about the lights + stock alarm

i know that this question has been asked and asked again incessantly, but.. it seems all the posts that i read had to deal with the horn.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the lights to not go up and down???

i dont much care about the horn,as it doesnt seem to go off anymore... my lights however, kill the battery..

Shouldn't you be identifying why your alarm is going off all the time instead of trying to disable the lights when it does?

I know I am of no help but I have never once had my alarm go off (unless I set if off on purpose) and others I know have never had it go off either. I think the only way it can go off is if someone breaks a window and opens the lock from the inside. Or possibly pries open the hood or hatch.

very true

If my alarm kept going off, I'd be more concerned as it what (or who) was making it go off.

i know what is setting it off, i just dont want the lights to come on and off when it does get set off.

This thread is beginning to amuse me. I look forward to monitoring it for future enjoyment. :)

I'd imagine that if you find a wiring diagram for the factory alarm box, it'd show which wires go to the headlight motors to make them go up and down. Snip snip.

your alarm is going off because of an aftermarket alarm doing its job...so to speak. I forget which one it is...but there is a relay in the drivers kick panel that when disconnected your stock alarm will not go off. it will disable the automatic locking of the passenger door, but its easy to just reach over and lock it before you get out of the car. ;)

im not asking about how my alarm is going off, I *know* what is setting it off. my apologies if what i am asking is confusing.

i am just inquiring about what is required to get the lights to stop popping up and down, and flashing the high beams.

I am still intrigued. Why are you so secretive of the reason your alarm keeps going off?

And, if it is going off like you say and the headlights are running your battery down, why would the stock alarm go off for more than 3-5 minutes. I believe it only goes off for a certain duration and then shuts off. Or does it go off until the battery is dead?

And an aftermarket alarm is "doing it's job" it should also shut off after a certain duration and wouldn't kill a battery. Unless the aftermarket alarm is shutting off but the stock alarm continues to go off.

Intrigued,
Joseph
