99 spec poly front bumper
 

My 1993's front bumper cover got slightly damaged and needs to be replaced. In order to improve cooling I'm thinking of replacing it with a 1999 style without the plate mount. Does that make sense? I also prefer polyurethane to fibreglass for durability. Does anyone have recent experience with Visracing and/or the polyurethane plateless front bumper they are selling.

What other parts are necessary to switch from oem 93 style, just fog lights? Is the 1993 bottom lip compatible with the 99 style? Thanks.

Your rebar may require a modification to clear bumper lights.
Fog lights are optional, although may need to fabricate brackets to add 99 spec fog lights.
I have not seen anyone using R1 lip on 99 spec bumper.

Anyway... The Vis is very likely made from the same mold as everyone else. See if you can find out if the inside of the bumper is inscribed with 37-2086 OFF ROAD USE ONLY

You need to cut larger openings on your stock rebar to allow for the larger combo lights of the 99 bumper. The 93 lip can be made to fit the 99 bumper with some hole drilling however IMO it doesn't look very good. The stock undertray can also be modified to fit.

So all you need is to cut the rebar & attain the 99 combo lights, if you use OEM lights then you need an adaptor if you go aftermarket then its plug and play. I also suggest going 99 with the lip.

Rebar is best but if you don't have it, its okay, just don't crash.

Using no rebar here, going on 3 years with no sagging or any issues. Couldn't fit the rebar as the I/C and radiator setup on 20b + oil coolers wouldn't allow fitment

There is a picture tutorial somewhere on the forums here that shows a guy cutting the rebar for fitment.

FYI if you get the 99 rebar there will be some grinding to do as the plateholder has been incorporated into it
