99 nardi wheel air bag problem

So I installed a 99 nardi rx7 wheel but the airbag light doesnt go out. Tried swaping wires but no change. I reconnected the old bag and the light goes out. Anyone have any suggestions???

Yes, I did get it from you (it looks brand new btw) and it came in the mail yesterday and tried to connect it but the light doesnt go out. As I said the old one when reconnected worked. Thought someone might have run into this problem before. My next step (I guess) is to go to Radio Shack and get a resistor....unless there is a better solution??

Umm...this may sound like a dumb question.
But for those of you attempting to retrofit the 99spec steering wheel (w/ air bag)...are you sure the air bag will go off IF you need it to?

I know the Lexus guys (specifically the SC guys) retrofit different model steering wheels on their cars (such as an RX330 steering wheel onto a 1993 SC300). In order for the airbag to go off, they need to ensure the airbag is of the same type. IE: single stage airbag to replace their own.

Excellent explanation here:

Just thought I would post this up, to ensure you guys are safe. I don't know the details regarding the swap, as I haven't seen it posted too often, but would rather the swap be done the right way, instead of a mickey mouse method/band-aid fix.

just take the lightout of the instrument cluster?

BillM 04-09-07 10:37 AM

the 99 bag is single stage and has two wires like the original. I could take out the bulb but I would rather have it work properly unless there is no other option. Since I'm the only driver I would only be killing myself anyway.

Good to know it is single stage. Thanks for the info.

I guess the question is: Has anyone had a '99 Nardi airbag actually deploy in an FD?

Bill, I wasn't trying to tout that I sell it or that you got it from me lol. Sorry if that's how it came across. Rather, I was trying to call your attention to the last line in my description: "This steering wheel requires absolutely no drilling of the signal returns; only a quick snip and solder of the airbag sensor, and you're good to go." Did you solder the airbag sensor?

Oh and I'm glad you're happy w/ the condition of the wheel. My apologies for the delay.

Ramy,

It's all good, the wheel is awsome. Well I found out the problem - the stupid clockspring was damaged (by me when I took off the old wheel) and will have to be replaced.

So no one knows for sure if one of these will actually work in an accident (i.e. through trial and error ;))? It'd be nice to know for when I get mine.
