99 jspec fron bumper

I bought the complete 99 spec front bumper kitw/rebar from RX7.COM and I would like to know from anyone who had it installed on their car, was their alot of sanding and fabricaing needed or was it a good fit.
I'm trying to estimate the labor cost **time** i maybe charged at a body shop.
Any tips or ideas will be appreciated.

Im pretty sure they already come painted in your choice of factory color. Should just be a direct bolt on. You should only need paint if your cars paint is faded.

um, it's oem equipment and fits just like the current bumper you have. there is absolutely no problems other than ducting that will need to be changed. and the bumper comes primered and ready for paint

I had it installed and it fit just fine. If you got the '99 spec rebar with it then there is no sanding or anything of the sort required. It's a direct bolt on, except they did have to rivit new mounting brackets onto the top since I bought it brand new and it didn't come with any brackets. The only thing you may need to do would be paint. Now you need the running lamps for it and fog lights unless you got those with the kit.

Why buy a bumper without knowing what it costs to paint it?

What will happen if you purchase the 99spec or pettit 99 front bumper without any rebar? Is there anther way to fit it without the rebar?? Seems to dear for a rebar.

You have to cut the ends of your stock rebar.

I have 99 complete front end with rebar, lip, fogs, and even the 99 underbelly pan and brake ducts..

someone said it came already painted?? mine didn't and friend of mine's didn't either.

Install is pretty simple.. you don't need the rebar, but it will help from sagging over time.. as its made of urathane and heat sometime warp the shape of the cover.

I also recommend getting the 99 underbelly pan and brake ducts.. otherwise, you will see that you could see straight thru the brake duct. and some what useless without one..

Fog lights are pain.. I have a base model and can't find my harness.. I have everything else except couldn't find the harness to the switch.. I might have to go aftermarket.

If you need more info let me know.. I'll try to help..

What are the disadvantages of modifying the stock rebar for the 99 bumper?

That is what lazy bodyshops will tell you :).

I installed mine myself, and you just have to enlarge the opening for the combo lights by about 2 inches in each direction. Keep test-fitting and recutting until it all fits. There is no disadvantage to modding your rebar this way. Saves around $400. Cutting off the ends gives you basically 1/3rd of your original rebar, which kinda sucks.
