99.99% blown but want another opnion
Hi guys,
It's hard to admit even after 1 year of my car not running. It's probably 99% a blown apex seal. The engine is probably dead, but I just wanted opinions so I can stop hoping it still works. I've been saving for a rebuild though so 1/3 of the way there. Can any other symptoms besides a blown motor lead to this?:egrin: it seemed like it was running fine when we first started up and it was able to stay on, but after that no go =(. |

That sounds like bad compression to me
|
easy just do a compression test, will take 15 mins and you will know for sure
|
Agreed...that only sounds like 1 rotor worth of compression going on.
I still don't know why people even post threads like this without performing a compression test, it's always the answer to "is my engine blown?" |
your fears are correct, you have a blown rotor and it will need to be rebuilt. don't waste your time on a compression test unless you want to know ahead of time which rotor went out.
and also save for a replacement rotor and housing because you 95.99% for sure will need both. you won't know what weight rotor you will need until you crack it open though. the next thing you have to answer for yourself is: "what caused this engine to fail?" and address that or join the multiple engine/i hate rotaries/rotaries are a crap engine club aka alternate engine swap forum. |
One year not running. You must be a student!
|
my car did exactly the same thing with bad crangle angle sensor wiring..... sounded like a bridge port at idle on stock ports.
|
I did do a compression test. The front rotor had 0 compression while the rear had compression(i forgot the number but it was strong). I just didn't want to believe it =(. Sorry for wasting time. I think the culprit behind it blowing was the omp line. I think it broke off while I did the rats nest and I never took care of it. It blew after my friend revved it to 5k. Yeah I am a student haha, still saving up! I wanted to take it to ben and still plan to when I have enough money and he has time for another project.
