94 RX7 Rear end swap
 

I have searched the internet to no end trying to find the answers to these questions, so here I am now.

A friend of mine and I are building a Champ/24hrLemons S10 and are swapping in a 94 FD rear end. Subframe and all we picked up for 250 bucks with multiple gears, just need calipers.

We finally have the frame of the S10 Stripped are are staring to get ready to mock up the rear end. Couple questions.

Where would I find the correct geometry for the rear end? how far off the ground is the rear subframe supposed to sit to make axle angels correct?

Our did not come with the PPF. Should we try to tie that into the frame up by the tranny? its going to be mated to a 4.3v6 w/5 speed tranny. Is it even needed? I don't want to mount it incorrectly and then bust a diff case;

Sorry if i'm intruding here, but I literally have no idea where to find these answers. lol

I can't think of where to find that information with you grabbing an angle finder and crawling under a stock FD that's on a rack with the suspension settled. I've never seen that information published in the factory shop manual either.
It is not needed. You can brace it to the frame. Since it's a lemons car you're probably already prepared to deal with a solidly mounted diff. A 4.3v6 should be fine as long as you're not launching the truck with slicks trying to cut a good 60 foot lol.

At ride height the axles coming from the diff are pretty much straight out. The car is relatively low even stock so that may be interesting in a truck frame.

I agree with F1Blue, I don't think you necessarily need to do a power plant frame or anything.

Thanks for the advice! Im glad to hear we dont need to engineer a PPF device.

As for finding an FD, do you know of anyone here that would be a good resource to take some measurements for me? Basically only need the height from the rear diff to ground. Everything else should work itself out then.

That height is also going to be dependent on whether the car is stock ride height or lowered.

I can try and remember to do it when I'm home at lunch to give you something of a baseline.

stock ride height will be plenty low for our application

I have coil overs but you can probably add 1.5" to the measurement.

Just measured, the bottom of my differential is right at 6 inches from the floor. This is parked on a flat level concrete garage floor.

I think stock was probably closer to 7.5 inches with my drop from coilovers.

what size tires are you running?

Rear tires are 255/40/17. Stock is 225/50/16 for reference.
