WHICH IS BETER AND WHAT ARE THE HORSEPOWERS FOR THEM

horsepower is all the same. Performance wise yes an R1 is better, for cruising the touring is better.

R1 has duel oil coolers, STIFF STIFF shocks, front lip, rear spoiler nicer interior, strut bar......

its all depends on what you want out of the car... personally i enjoy the sunroof, leather, and cruise control. If ya want a track car then go with the r1.. ive been told that it has a stronger body because it doesnt have a sunroof. if ya want a nice fast car that you want to enjoy more than go fast then go with touring or a PEP.

When the FD first came out, I think it was car and driver that said essentially, "We are always asking for firmer suspension, but be careful what you ask for." They recommended the touring model for it's softer, easier to live with, suspension.

Ya the power is all the same but the wieght is a big diffence in them like 200 lbs less in the base. SO that y i bought a base.

Here's how I look at it....
Everything the R1 has, you will probably end up upgrading it and is always addable to the touring. You can't (cheaply) add a sunroof to the R1.

Sunroofs are nice to enjoy on a :cool: day :)

Don't worry about the difference on the RX-7. Just make sure to get a compression test before purchasing an RX-7. Also, make sure the turbos are running correctly. The hardest part will come down to an RX-7 that you are satified with, because they are pretty rare.

Not really, you might want to check your facts again. For '93, a base 5 spd is listed at 2789lbs, the R1 is 2800lbs, and the 5spd touring is 2862. An auto will add ~57lbs if I recall. The sunroof adds ~25-30lbs to the car and the Bose adds ~15-20lbs to the touring. Weight really isn't much of an issue between them.

For '94, the cars added ~14lbs from items such as the passenger airbag.

My base model has leather.

It doesn't have the added weight of a sunroof either.

I would only buy a base model or R1. I'm not much for creature comforts and the weight they add.

The R1 is nice because of the dual oil coolers.

To answer your questions:

• The touring editions were not the only cars to have leather although leather was standard on them. Leather seats were available as an option on the base models and are somewhat common.

•Yes, you can get a red R1 with black leather fairly easily. Just pick up a pair of black leather seats from someone and drop them in. BATMAN took out his stock seats from his black R1 and replaced them with tan leather seats. The seats are the only difference between a leather and non-leather interior.

There really isn't any differences between models that can't be added/removed/improved upon. The main thing is just deciding whether or not you want a sunroof and, more importantly, the condition of the car itself.

Don't worry about weight reduction in the base or R1. Throw some coilovers or even some springs and shocks, front sway bar on the Touring and you'll handle better than a R1. 70 to 80 lbs isn't going to be anything drastic. So you'll do 0-60 in 5.05 instead of 5.0 - big deal. Once you start modifying, it won't matter. Heck, I have super heavy 18 inch chrome rims and a full stereo with 12 inch subwoofer (still have stock BOSE speakers in car...lazy) and can still rip off insane 0-60 times. Go with the car that suits your needs - but you can do all these things to a Touring.

the only reason I like the r1 is because the seats are more comfty!!! why does a r1 has a cruise C button but doesnt work?????haha.. get whatever you want !!! there is a;ways something you dont like about a car..but a sunroof does pimp on sunny days..I bought base and added a lip and spioler, but its all good

My touring has rear spoiler,

the r1s never had leather seats, it was an option on the base.

As what has been said in the posts above, the difference is minimal - and almost a non issue (with the exception of the sun/moon roof of course) if you plan on modifying it. Weight difference is minimal as well.

The difference between an R1 and the other trims is not as dramatic as say a base Integra vs a Type R.

My Touring has essentially everything swapped out for aftermarket parts, so the issue of R1 vs Touring/base is moot to me. Whatever you get, you cant go wrong.:bigthumb:

the only thing you really should worry about is if you want a sunroof or not. if you do make sure u buy one with the sunroof as a factory option.all tourings came with them. this is one modification u do not wanna do. everything else is basicly a bolt on. and since the car is not new most of the suspenshion peices that are in the car you should be replacing anyway.

well if you can find an r1 for a good price go for it...... i personally think that r1's are overpriced cuz of its rarity. i also think that if you're planning to modify your car you should just go for the cheapest that is in good shape.

Speed differential between any model will be minimal at best. There will be more of a difference in speed between actual cars... due to varying condition. I'll take an immaculate tourer over a beaten R1 in a drag race any day of the week. These cars are tough to find in excelent condition. Buy the nicest one you find.
