93 fd identification
 

i have a 93 fd.. how do i know if it is a r1 or touring it has a sunroof but no bose system. has a back wiper. is there some kind of identification

its a touring

Call Mazda USA with your VIN. That will solve it instead of guessing. Most likely it is a Touring but there have been rare cars where dealers/options were installed outside of the factory.

Not all cars were called touring, R1 R2 etc..... there was also PEP and PEG

^ But the car the OP is talking about is allegedly a 93 model year so those other trims do not apply.

The PEG and PEP were '94 and 95, so assuming he has the correct year i believe its a touring. Now his information he indicated seems more like its a '94 PEG.

Which leaves me with 3 questions:

1. Are you sure its a 93?
2. Does it have smooth or textured plastics?
3. Does it have leather seats?

If its textured, has no fog lights, and has leather, i believe its a 94 PEG

To do process of elimination, see if it has dual oil coolers. If it does then it is a R model.

If it is a 93 then someone might've took the Bose out.

10th digit of the VIN is the year code. P='93 R='94 S='95

If it's truly a 93, it's a Touring, minus Bose. If 94, a PEG.

Call Mazda with your VIN. Solve it once and for all instead of having 20 people spinning you in different directions.

No 'R' models had a sunroof though....

I thought if it had a sun roof it was a touring model? or at least 99% chance it is.

obviously the best way to find out is to just call mazda. But as i said, if it has textured plastic as you indicated and no bose with sunroof, its prolly a 94 PEG.
