6sp tranny for FD
Anyone know where I can get a 6sp tranny for FD?
I know theres HKS 6sp tranny in Japan.... do we have it in US? |
No i forgot the site but its 10k for the tranny..
|
OS and HKS both have them, either for a full tranny, or just the guts for the original tranny to make it a 6-speed.
|
Why do you need a 6 speed again?

CTC Motorsports aka Wasabi Racing in addison has a 6 spd dogbox for the 7 I think they want 6k for it. Pretty good deal if you ask me.

I've heard ideas floating around about trying to make the rx-8 tranny compatible with the FD.
|
why don't you talk w/ resource about it... he'll do it for $2k...

6G for 6sp tranny...not bad at all

What is the point to adding a 6 speed it will not give you faster speed really, just a lower rpm. I dont think it is worth the money at all.

Gas mileage won't be much of a differance since having a 6th gear will be about as tall as our 5th gear, but at LEAST we will have the benefit of that shorter 5th gear. I've come to the conclusion.......anyone that doesn't see the benefit of having a 6th gear is a complete.......... well, it's against forum rules to say it :D |
most cars with a 6th gear are ment for cruising speeds.
i shift into 5th around 140ish. the FD dosent feel like it bogs out.. personaly i dont see a need for a 6th gear for us. |
Originally posted by Flybye Next time you are racing someone, topping out 4th gear, shifting into 5th gear, your RPMS drop WAY down around 5k, and the guy you were racing with his lower 5th gear starts to pull past you, and then he finally switches over to 6th gear to end your slauter, you too will wish you had that lower 5th gear in order to keep your RPMS closer to the sweet spot, and STILL have an additional gear to go in order to beat your opponent. The FD can hit 200+ with its current tranny. If you have issues with 5th seeming too tall, get a new rearend (what is it, the 3.90?). Personally I'd never really consider racing anyone on public roads at those speeds, but if you wish, go ahead. Before the flaming begins, I know getting the new rearend would lower the top speed, but c'mon, who the hell is racing anyone to 200mph? |

Take this dyno graph for example: http://www.pettitracing.com/Images/RX-7Dyno.jpg Banzai's HP: at 5500rpm = about 400hp at 6500rpm = about 480hp TKT HP at 5500rpm = about 200hp at 6500rpm = about 260hp and that's only a 1000rpm differance. If you are on a track currently on the long straightaway, or racing that Supra you've been dying to kill, you gonna tell me that extra HP you can get from having a shorter 5th gear won't come as a benefit? |
