50 More HP at Night!
I don't know if it's just mine or if all FD's drive like they have like 50 more horsepower at night. I know the cooler air at night makes for slightly better performance for any car. But the FD seems to really love night time driving. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yeah, I feel 40-50 more HP at night.

Fast connection.

I don't know about 40-50hp but yeah they seem to run better at night on cooler air..
|
The cool air makes our crappy intercoolers less crappy.

I don't remember what the ratio is, but there is a hp gain associated with every drop in degree for forced induction cars. Due to the air being more compressed/compressable at lower temps.
*shameless plug* Maybe someone outta drop that question over on my new forced induction only forum. http://www.forcefed.cc */shameless plug* K |
All cars run better at night. Colder air is better air for most cars. And I don't mean like -30 degrees below 0. If you feel 50 more horse power when the sun goes down, it just means the crack has done its job.. : )

I think the rule of thumb is for every 10 degrees cooler the air intake into your engine is worth 1-2% power improvement.
300hp motor at 30 degrees cooler intake to engine is worth 9-18 hp. Ken |
on a full moon my moms volvo gets a 200hp difference!

I read the other day that Subaru WRC teams Report a gain of 1Hp per 1 Degree lowering of the intake temp - Now i know they are crappy subaru's and im not sure What the relationship between exterior Temp and Intake temp would be on the 7 but i thought you might find it a interesting fact anyway...
No ? I'll get me coat..... |
also I notice on many cars cooler air = a bit more boost.
I think a good intercooler makes the difference even more noticeable. |

I have to adjust my boost settings as weather changes, not fuel ratios though. However, by getting boost you are not set for, ie with stock ECU, you cn run lean, maybe that is was Rikki meant. |
yup kz1 you got it I just fiqured everyone knew what I meant Sorry

your rims
R1 Outcast:
I was wondering about the rims in your pics.....did you just powdercoat the centers of the stock rims black or what?......they look pretty good...... I want SSR comps but this may hold me until I get em........ tks, dp |
When i had my n/a 2nd gen on the dyno, (Excessive motor sports) without a fan blowing on the intake the tempature was over 120degrees, with the fan, it was lowerd to a ambient 60 degrees. We picked up about 10rwhp. I know its not a turbo car, but thats my experience. CJ
