I had minimum coverage..,
|
so how does the insurance work? was it the truck's fault, trucking company insurance paying for your repair?
i'm assuming not, as you're mentioning your level of coverage. |
I need details of the accident to tell you if you will be found at fault...
It really sucks that you have minimal coverage, the FD will be totaled and you will be stuck with it if it was your fault. At least you have coverage for the other person. |
Wow sorry to hear. The main thing is that you're okay. Full coverage is a must on an FD.. at least in my eyes. That's a salvage for sure. Hope it works out for you.

looks like he rearended the semi. totaled. part what you can cause that's all youre gonna get.
|
Unfortunately, Florida is a no fault state, so each party in an accident gets to pay for their own damages, But it looks like you have minor damage, as long as the suspension and steering is ok. it might cost a bit, but its definitely not totaled. great opportunity for some upgrades.

Yeah i hope i can repair it... The police officer said i was at fault as i was turning left and he was going straight. It doesn't matter as i wont get any money either way.

No way that car is totaled. I've seen cars on here get totaled with far less damage. Remember totaled doesn't mean unfixable, it means the cost of repair is close or higher than the actual cost of the vehicle. Edit- Just saw the new pics... PeruvianRrx7, Sorry about your car man. But yeah looking at how disfigured the headlight frame is, it is definitely totaled and not going to be cheap to fix. If you lived closer to this side of the country I would recommend you an awesome shop in MX that could fix that for pennies on the dollar.... Man...I hate threads like this :( |
I think it looks worse that it is... Will see worst case scenario I might have to buy a donor car

Possibly even the front left corner assembly in VR as well  |
Best financial decision and still wanting to own a FD= Patience, find a good roller/blown motor car and swap over your drive train and parts you want to keep. Then part that shell down to the nuts and bolts and you will come out fine.
What I hope you do=spend the money to have the car repaired correctly. Getting harder and harder to find. Good luck either way. |
All you need is a front clip to get straight frame rails.... I have seen much worse get repaired and on the road again....

Yeah I agree with Montego, after seeing the new pics, that look pretty bad and it looks like it got your main harness too. But it wouldn't hurt to get an estimate, just to see what it would take to fix it. Insurance isn't going do anything for you with that kind of coverage anyway. Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully its all works out for you.

just some FYI in case others were curious:
(no-fault states): "In terms of damages to vehicles and their contents, those claims are still based on fault. No-fault systems focus solely on issues of compensation for bodily injury." so i guess that's why the police officer even bothered with whose fault it was. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No-fault_insurance) |
thats a very easy fix, it needs to get that headlight frame bit replaced (parts catalog isn't co-operating at the moment), and then it needs to get pulled straight, and you're good.
we used to sell these a lot at the dealerships... |
bro its ugly but not that bad, half hour on the frame machine or if you decide to replace the corner a little more than that and you will be up and running , are you still behind western highscool? pm me i know someone parting a red 93 and that corner has already been carefully taken apart .

Unfortunatly... I noticed that the suspension might be bent...the sway bar mount is intact so is the strut mount but after replacing the blown wheel/tire with the spare i noticed this...

I got dibs on drivers side window switch

Thats way more then just a headlight mounting area and a .5hr pull on a frame rack. Your LT upper rail is smashed and fender apron is buckled. Even your core support is shoved back too. Yeah its fixable but you have to ask yourself if the 3-5k is worth it or you just buy a shell.
Side note: I think you learned a very important lesson about skimping out on insurance! :-) |

dude where do you get 3-5k from ? and fds dont have a front fender apron , just a rear one. anyways a pull forward and a lil constructive nip tuck to relieve stress and finishing work my frame guy said bring the car down here and he'll have you out the door minus paint (fender and hood) a little under 1k, and thats using a start of the art frame machine , aligning the car and laser tram gauge accurate down to mm. been in buisness over 25 years here in davie. he knows the fd also because SpeedSource sent him their fds for paint and bodyjobs.
|
Yea that sucks but it's not that bad. They can fix the frame pretty easy to be honest. Replace whatever on suspension is damaged from used parts and then some paint. Maybe 3k tops. I also work insurance claims, if this gets to totaled then your insurance companies vendors are getting way to much business from them and are going the rates through the roof. I'm a vendor for insurance transit claims and it's a problem in my industry. Guys getting crazy on prices, so long as it's less than replacement then repair usually gets expensive..
