4" dp/mp
 

does anyone sell a 4'' downpipe and midpipe?
i was going 2 get it custom made but just thought
i'd ask if you can buy them first.

you would need a customer manifold made to run 4 inches all the way back..and on stock turbos I doubt it would help much (could be wrong)

Would be cool though on a single turbo car..

well ya i didn't mean for that piping to go on
the twins. when i go single i'm doing it.

but your right the stock manifold is way to restricted
any way.

Single turbo....... The bigger the turbo the bigger the down pipe the better.....(With in measured proportions)

Actually, a huge downpip wouldn't help much. You want the air to kind of "suck" it self out, like a jet. Small to big. 3" downpipe, custom midpipe, larger diameter cat-back...

I'd like to see dyno runs comparing the 3" to 4" to see if there is any huge difference in power. I can't really see to much considering the 3" is already pretty big, but it would be cool to see.

4" is not too big. Ari yallon & ray lochhead etc. all use
them. the faster you can get the exhaust out the more
power you are going 2 make. thats why porting works
so well. (not that this is anything new)

I'm going to place my bet and assume that there are no appreciable differences between a 3 and 4 inch exhaust.

I think theres a little bit a difference between those two, but I could be wrong.(meaning no camparson)

They could assist you for the exhaust. Contact them.

from what ive heard, you wont notice any appreciable gains unless you are above 500+hp. So for anything short of a full on track/drag car, just use 3" and dont worry about it.

IMHO, anyone with twins probably won't see any gains except a "deeper" exhaust note.

I'm running on the stock twins(non-seq) with a 3in downpipe, 4in midpipe, and 4in re-amemiya exhaust. It works out great and sounds real nice to boot. I agree though that 3in all the way is plenty good for a street driven FD with the stock twins.

The hks 4" titanium race exhaust is a midpipe/catback that has 4" piping all the way.

I've got a 4" midpipe and cat-back, sitting in my room that is, still waiting to get it running again

When you increase diameter of the piping you decrease velocity. Too much of that is not good.

Yup, it works both ways for intake and exhaust.

Only rice logic and physics mandates that it gets bigger and bigger.

at this rate the next gen of exhaust will be able to fit a grown man in it in less than a decade.

You might make more top end horsepower however you are going to lose midrange torque. For a road race car that's above 5k almost all the time there might be some gains, however your daily streetability would be degraded.
