3rd gen rear ends

hey, i need to make my rear end stronger or replace it with a stronger one. I already have new derlin diff bushings and aftermarket trailing arms. I would like to know if a turbo2 clutch pack rear end will drop in and if not how hard will it be. im looking at the cheapest way to go here. And also How long will it hold up i put on a diff brace, build the internals in the stock rear end...... if i can? im going to makeing aroung 470-520 hp hopefully.

I just did the swap less then a month ago. I have a thread talking about my experience doing the swap if you do a search of my recent threads, it also has some information that most people aren't aware of regarding the rebuild of them. I did alot of research before doing the swap.

so i read the threands basicaly fing a turbo 2 lsd and get it rebuilt and drop it in. were can i find a redbuild kit. i probibly wont do the rebuild myself, i dont have all the tools for it and im not the most mechanicaly advanced person.

Mazdatrix i think has the parts if not call Malloy mazda and ask for Ray and he will hook you up. Find a shop that knows what they are doing to do the rebuild but i think there are some writes on here somewhere if you want to do it.

You might not have to rebuild it. Take it apart and check the clearances on the friction plates, and also the whole assembly. The FSM for a TII will tell you how to do that. Just beware that the friction plates are NOT 2mm new for the Turbo LSD (as claimed in the FSM), they are 1.7mm new if I recall correctly. My thread has information about that.

Mine was in like new condition and needed nothing replaced. You can also shim them up to either bring them back to new, or make them a bit tighter on the lock up. It's better to see what is needed because the parts for them are expensive. Or you could take it to someone and have them do everything, but then you risk them screwing you with an outrageous price.

Mazda trix has the parts, Mazda Malloy (Ray knows what's needed) and also mazda competition has them but you have to be a racer to be a member.

The backlash is probably the most annoying part of the swap, I got lucky and was able to swap my stock shims around to tighten up the backlash to spec. It was a bit tight getting them in, but it worked out well. If you're not lucky like I was, the shims run about $20+ per shim (there's like 12 shims or more) and it's kind of a guessing game. I used synthetic royal purple 75/140, seems to lock up well without making noise on corners.

Though if you do have to rebuild it, I would DEFINITELY call Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda for any parts. Do a search on here if you have not heard of him before. Good luck with the swap.
