3rd gen FD keyless entry fob

Hey folks.
I got a 93 Fd and I noticed that it has a security light indicator on the console. So I imagine it has a oem alarm system. Does any have the key fob product number? It should be located on the back of the remote. Or maybe I am wrong about the alarm system?

saxyman990 06-03-07 01:13 PM

Keyless entry was not available on FD's. The OEM security system simply arms itself when everything is closed, and the doors are locked.

yes and its very common for it to act up as well.

BoostedTimmy 06-03-07 01:28 PM

Getting keyless was one of the best things I've done for my FD

With some (if not all) '93 cars, shut off the engine before you open your door. The alarm will activate it when you lock it. If you open your door while the engine's still running, the alarm won't activate. (open/close the door again if that happens and you want the alarm)
Some times it's handy, other times it's a royal pita...

+1, yep. When the car gets locked the alarm activates.

DMoneyRX-7 06-03-07 03:07 PM

i want keyless entry and a nice alarm system very badly. How much would it cost you guys think

BLKTOPTRVL 06-03-07 03:11 PM

Call Circuit City or Best Buy or other Electronics shops and ask?

It won't stop a thief and will probably cause electrical gremlins down the road. Most cars that I work on with ignition issues owe it to some cheesy alarm system spliced into the wiring.

DMoneyRX-7 06-03-07 05:32 PM

thats exactly what happened to mine already. Someone had one on mine and caused some bad gremlins. I'm wanting to go through the wiring and take everything out that isn't original.

Not in the United States, at least. :)

Contact Ramy/FDNewbie and see if he can get you the JDM keyfobs and driver's door lock actuator. Keyless entry was available in Japan.

FearNoPiston 06-03-07 06:37 PM

circuit city would charge about 200 installed but you have a slave system so you need an actuator in the drivers door which is 80.00 in additional labor and 30-40 for there actuator.

Sounds about right.

Jim's right (no surprise lol). Hey Jim  Long time!

The driver side door lock actuator I'm sure I can find & get, but I'd have to look up the part #, and pay the Mazda Japan fee, then ship it over...I'm not sure that's worthwhile and/or smart, when the DEI compact door lock actuator (Part # (A)524N) works FLAWLESSLY in our FDs, and is only $24.99 ;)

As for the JDM keyfobs, I can do even better than that :D I can get the COMPLETE FD-specific OEM keyless entry accessory (b/c that's what it is...an accessory), plug 'n play (takes about 2 hrs to install), compatible w/ FDs of ALL years, including the module and not one but TWO keyfobs, utilizing a radio frequency I believe (vs infra-red), allowing for greater range. The ONLY thing is, I dunno anyone who's tried it in a LHD FD to date.

If anyone's interested in giving this a shot very soon, lemme know, as if it works, I have a feeling a lot of FD owners will wanna jump on this - and of course, I'd be more than happy to run a GB on 'em ;)

Hey Ramy I'm interested.

FDNewbie 06-03-07 09:31 PM

Interested ie you'll try installing it soon and post up w/ your results? And hopefully you're good @ wiring and a bit creative? Cuz makin it work on a LHD car may take a bit of creativity (who knows though..it may be very straightforward)...

The problem with the aftermarket actuators, as I understood it the last time this was discussed, was that they would eventually fatigued and break the cables in the door because of the odd angles involved. If I were going to put it in my car, I'd use only Mazda parts just to be on the safe side.

What's the cost? I don't even have a functioning battery in my car at the moment, but the electrical system is 99% done. :)

i'm in also. but what is the price for the full set? and does it work good just like the viper alarm?

cblake3 06-04-07 03:47 PM

Me too!

Robar 06-04-07 04:11 PM

I'm also interested! I have gone through 3 acuators installed by audio shops. Also replaced drivers side cable assembly.

What are we talking about cost wise for the unit. I've already installed a righthand drive door actuator in my drivers door just need some way toactivate it. Was going to go aftermarket but decided to wait.

ejmack1 06-04-07 04:34 PM

I'd install it in mine lol, my car is in a constant state of being worked on anyway

Tyblat 06-04-07 05:44 PM

I'd like to hear more on this as well.

BryanDowns 06-04-07 05:53 PM

Interested as well if this pans out :) (depending on price of course)

Seppeku 06-04-07 06:02 PM

i'd buy a set for mine, no question...

Do you have any pics of how to mount the actuator properly?
I'm sure a lot of people would like to see this as well.
