3rd gen electrical problems

After getting a new motor installed on thursday, I drove the car over 500 miles this weekend perfectly. Yesterday the electrical system started to trip out. First the radio shuts off, then my guages start fluctuating and getting dim, then my lights, etc...

Today, I was driving and the whole car shut down. All the lights went out, and nothing electrical worked. I tried to start it again, and it cranked but wouldn't fire up. My friend opened the hood and messed wih the battery connector ( i relocated my battery to the back) and all of a sudden everything came on. However, once in a while the car will want to die out again (electric).

This is really frustrating, just got my car back and somethign wrong happens, anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Same exact thing happen to me. It was my grounding wire, my old one was crap. it could also possibly be the positive connection, just recheck everything again or add more wires.

Good luck

My 2nd gen did exactly what you describe when the alternator was in the throes of death.

Those two thoughts crossed my mind. Both the grounding wire and also the alternator since the car has almost 118k on it. Thanks guys, how much do alternators go for these days?
