3k Hesitation with Power Fc
Hi guys,
I have just rebuild the engine and the car ran great. I have driven it for 100 miles under 3k rpms now that I wanted to go above 3k rpms it seems like the car hits a wall as soon as I go above 3k no matter what gear i am in. I am not flooring the car at all as the engine is very new but gently accelerating. I know this has been discussed but most of the people have said that the Power FC fixes it. I already have the power FC on my car still have this problem... What should I check... Thanks guys... |
the 3k hesitation doesnt feel like a wall. It feels just like it sounds: a slight hesitation @ 3K. My car used to do it when the car was cold, but once I got the power fc it never did it again.
What you are experiencing is something else. I read somewhere that the power fc has a 'valet' mode. Now I've never bothered to confirm if thats true, but at least is worth a check. |
did you have the PFC installed before the rebuild? stock map? Do you have a wideband to see what's happening with your AFRs?

3k is when the secondary injectors kick in. If you're hitting a brick wall there, either something is wrong with your secondaries, the wiring to them, or the setting for the secondaries in the PFC. That's all it could be.

Dale Do you have upgraded secondary injectors? if so, make sure your PFC is set-up to use them otherwise your dumping massive amounts of fuel into your engine which will cause your symptoms as well. If your not, you could always initialize the PFC back to the stock settings, and you can rule that out as a culprit. |

I have attached here a picture that I took of the injectors setting on the FC Edit.... It seems the setting on the power fc being wrong can be ruled out or am I missing something.... I will have the injectors and the wiring checked tomorrow and let you guys know. Thanks and again... |

Checked everything with the secondaries and they seem ok. Switched to the stock Ecu and it easily revs past 3000rpms.... So with the Power fc it hits a wall but with stock ECU its all good... What could be the problem with the Power Fc? |
save your map, and then reinitialize it. if you still have the issue i would suspect that it's a hardware problem with the PFC itself.

Just finished my single turbo build on my JDM 1997 FD and started it up with a single turbo map (still needs a full tune to suit my setup) and I can't rev past 2.8k+- As per the below vid, really frustrating |
People have found blown injector transistors on the PowerFC, that will keep the PFC from being able to run the secondary injectors and that will cause the problem. I recently saw a writeup on how to replace that transistor, it's not hard if you can solder/desolder.
Read my post above, it could also be other things like the wiring to the secondaries or the settings in the PFC. Dale |
