3000 rpm STICK

I installed a boost controller and fixed my boost leak today, and my turbos are boosting right at around 9-10 psi. WHich is where I want it. Now after about two test drives of the turbos boosting right my car decides to stick at 3k RPM! It just sits there revving at 3,000 RPM with the air pump screaming. I disconnected the air pump and it stopped spinning but it still idled at 3k RPM. Shut the car off let it cool down, started it back up -- 3k RPM. Reset the ECU (for shits and giggles) and still 3k RPM. I searched and found nothing, anyone have ANY idea? There is also a gurgling sound coming from the UIM right about the fuel rail, but there is no fuel leakage around the fuel rail.

throttle cable/linkage sticking or one big ass vac leak

LAMEtHIng 03-31-04 05:06 PM

checked the throttle cable, it looks fine. as for vacuum leak, i'm non seq. ;/

mad_7tist 03-31-04 05:10 PM

so?

LAMEtHIng 03-31-04 05:17 PM

i thought you implied it was a vac hose leak, so i said i was non seq.

well where would a big ass vac leak most likely be that would cause the car to sit around 3k rpm. it doesnt completely "stick' there it will drop about 100 rpm under every few secs the jump back up...if that may help

PCV nipple

Well I just was looking around the UIM and I noticed the PCV nipple on the UIM, its cap has popped off somewhere. Could this cause such a crazy idle?

Thanks

yes. . . it could. . . that is likely it. replace it and make sure its on there good.

the pcv? hells yea that can cause a jacked idle.. put your finger over the hole and see if your idle corrects itself.
If thats not it then you need to check the UIM and LIM.. Hopefully its not the SHITTY Paper Gasket for the LIM. if so.. Now you have an excuse to get the mo betta one.

it was it :) , sorry for wasting your time guys. i should have looked over my car more before posting. i just get worried sometimes , hehe

have a good one

LAMEtHIng 03-31-04 06:30 PM

by "it was it" i mean I plugged the PCV nipple from the UIM and that fixed the 3000 RPM idle. Just in case people have a similar problem and search for it.

mad_7tist 03-31-04 06:33 PM

pvc nipple = big ass vac leak

hope you put a better cap on that thing. and some of the harder to reach ones also;)
