226F temp switch
 

Everyone references this gem, but nobody says where to find it. Mine is coming on allt he time, I woudl like to locate switch and test it. Does anyone have any idea where it is located? not the temp sensor, but hte 226F switch.

I'm not sure what you're referencing but if there is a 226-F switch in the back of the water pump housing that signals the fans to come on. I'm not sure of the connector color but there are only two switches mounted in the back of the water pump housing. The one with a green connector is the ECU temp switch and the other one is the 226-F fan switch.

I haven't had the chance to install it yet but I have a Miata 210-F replacement switch in my garage. Some of the Houston guys have used this with good results. You just have to cut the connector off the old switch and splice it onto the new one.

210, why? My 226F never activates anyway, becasue my car never gets that hot. Even with hundred degreee heat, normal fans come on around 100C and keep everything cool.

Thanks for the info, I will look, I think mine is shorting out, I haev funs coming on at 40C.

Maybe some of your guys addicted to running your cars cold want this low temp thermo I am about to take out of my car.

Depending on your particular RX-7 year and model, having the lower Miata thermo switch will cause the fans to come on at about 207F instead of 226F. This will keep your engine cooler in mild weather when you are not running the AC, and also go to one step faster fan speed if the AC is on.

Miata 207F thermoswitch is N350-18-840, cost about $57 and reqiures you to splice a different pin connector into the wire. The connector can be bought at an electronics store.

From your post I see that it doesn't work for all models. Do you know which ones it doesn't work for?

I have a '94 Touring made 3/94. I already bought the switch but haven't installed it yet. Just found out I have a bad o-ring on No. 1 rotor housing today so I'll certainly have a chance to install.

Will the miata thermo switch work for a 93 touring? How hard is it to get to?

I haev a better one. It is adjustabel from Centerline products. It comes with a probe that straps to rad, adn then you can adjust when you want it to switch. cost about 45$

It seem to work on the earlier models up to about 94.
Works on mine 93.

from what year Miata is the thermo switch from?, just want to know to see if I could get an aftermarket one
