Are 20b turbos sequential?
like the above subject line, are 20b turbos sequential or non? thanks

Yes, they are sequential. However, they are differently sized from the FD turbos.

what would be the major diff. between the two?
|
also, was the 20b only produced in the 99's? sorry for the newb q's. don't know much about the 20b

thanks mahjik,
that helped me decide not to get them lol. |
Just incase you didn't get it from that link, the 20B is the three rotor engine that was used in the JC Cosmo which was sold only in Japan, around the same time as the FD. It also had a sequential twin turbo setup, but the turbos where sized differently to better suit the needs of that particular car. As said in that link, they won't bolt on to an FD manifold
You may have been thinking of the turbos from the 1999 and up, 280hp FD. Those are completely different, do bolt on to the stock US FD manifold, and do offer some power gains. |
yeah I knew the cosmo was a 3 rotor. I was thinking of the 99 spec turbos, my bad. thanks for clearing everything up for me.
|
No problem :)

If I got a 20B Id just change the turbos to non-sequential, just make it like a norm TT. Thats just me though, ;)
|
Thats exactly what I'm doing...
|
The 20B has an HT15 and an HT12. The FD has two HT12s.
I'm not sure about either of these "facts", but I think the "primary" turbo might be toward the rear rather than the front. I think the larger HT15 might be the primary with the smaller HT12 as the secondary. If anyone knows for sure about these two items, please post. -Max |
I'll take some pictures of mine once they get in.

I believe the primary is the larger one, up front, initially fed by all 3 rotors. secondary is to rear, fed mostly by rear rotor after transition.
dmrh ... you mean the small secondary seems smaller than the fd turbos, with 20B primary being larger? http://www.dmrh.com.au/images/jc03a.jpg |
