The 2012 Chris Carlisi Memorial Meet is on track this year!

That's right, this year the Memorial Meet and Rotary Cruise is going to be held at NJ Motorsports Park on the Lightning track in Millville NJ :)

More details to follow, but please mark this day on your calendar:

Saturday September 29th

In fact, you may want to mark the whole weekend on your calendar as track time will be available the next day (sunday the 30th) as well :icon_tup:

Here is a link of track information, with more details to follow soon:

Now that is a pretty cool idea. I'd like to attend another track event and I know The Lightning is really nice. Have a lot of big things going on right now with the car so we shall see. Do you think you'll be ready car-wise by then Rich?

For those that don't want to do the track, are you planning some sort of drive around? Is there anywhere near the track that would make for a good route? That's one of the highlights of past events at Gordon's place.

Finally, the most important thing is the event is being held again, in honor of Chris. I know Ron and Judy are proud.

RENESISFD 07-28-12 08:01 AM

I'll be there.:icon_tup:

TwinCharged RX7 07-28-12 08:19 AM

I'm in :)

Fritz Flynn 07-28-12 09:04 AM

I'll try to make it :icon_tup:

Scrub 07-28-12 09:53 AM

I'll be there. :icon_tup:

Just to clear a few things up, this meet is not a track day in itself. It is happening during a track day, so you have the option of signing up and getting on track if you'd like to. The meet itself will have it's own area. I'll let Rich explain the rest of the details. Seeing as Rich was one of Chris' best friends, it's probably safe to say he knows the way in which Chris would have wanted to be remembered.

I like the idea of a fall event this year, August is too hot to spend the whole day in an fd w/out a/c :).

XLR8 07-28-12 01:31 PM

Looking forward to it.

Fritz Flynn 07-29-12 09:30 AM

I won't make this one. Going to the PCA event the weekend before it.

Anyone interested in that event should seriously consider it: MotorsportReg.com : PCA - First Settlers announces Fall 2012 Drivers Ed At VIR (Sat 22 - Mon 24 Sep, 2012) info at Virginia International Raceway, Alton, VA 24520 (9506)

Another great event with time trials included and TONS of track time: MotorsportReg.com : Tarheel Sports Car Club announces 2012 THSCC John Mullis Memorial HPDE/TT (Fri 7 - Sun 9 Sep, 2012) info at Virginia Int'l - Full Course, Alton, VA 24520 (4307)

Agreed, September will be MUCH cooler than mid-August.

Fritz, it would be great if your crew can make it up..... would be nice to finally meet you after all the $$$ I've spent on getting parts from you :D I've also told Peter about it so hopefully he can make it too.

I posted this thread at the earliest opportunity so that people can mark it on their calendar. It will be similar to past years, but held in the paddock at a road race course. One of Chris' goals for his 20B build was to be able to enjoy the car on a road race course as well as drive it on the street. This location is a natural fit :)

Like I mentioned in the original posts, more details to follow :icon_tup:

P.S. As a teaser of what's in store, we may be able to have a session on track of 'Lead-and-Follow' so that people without race-prepped cars can still enjoy the experience while donating a small sum to the JDRF in Chris' name for every lap they run

^Oh that would be killer!!

OneRotor 07-29-12 01:54 PM

This is the weekend before my brothers' wedding. Have fun!

Rmonaker 07-29-12 02:54 PM

Sounds like a great idea. We'll be there. Looking forward to seeing all of the guys from past years. Do they have a senior citizen lane on that track?

Ron Carlisi

John and I plan on attending the PCA event the week before the Carlisi meet, as well as the track day during the meet itself. You should consider coming up anyway. The meet is only once a year and it's for a good cause. It will give you a chance to meet some of us Northerners. I'm sure there's a lot of people who would like to meet the guy they've been buying parts from all these years

PS I can host a few guests at my house. It's only about an hour from the track and the drive there is a bunch of country roads (no twisties though).

MOBEONER 07-30-12 04:59 PM

RENESISFD 07-30-12 05:09 PM

muibubbles 07-31-12 08:04 AM

bummer its the same day as SS15... im out...... if you are doing a raffle of some sort let me know, I'll donate some stuff

GoodfellaFD3S 07-31-12 09:47 AM

Sorry about the conflict with SS guys, it couldn't be helped unfortunately.

The sponsors are starting to roll in.......

Malloy Mazda and big bad Ray Crowe will in attendance and on track with Chris' 20B monster, and will be contributing some nice juicy gift certificates

BNR Supercars has generously donated a set of his upgraded Stage 3 twin turbos at 40% off the retail price..... this works out to $1260 for a set, with a good core provided

More coming soon

Benny, what a bummer. Hoping to see the Pink machine again this year.

GoodfellaFD3S 08-02-12 11:22 PM

A few more sponsors added......

http://<span style="font-size:med...net are going to donate some TBD goodies for the raffle

And as if you didn't know by now, www.IRPerformance.com are going to donate the Chris Carlisi Memorial Engine, which is good for 1/2 price labor, of which 100% is donated the the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of Chris. This amounts to ~$700 :)
