1992 NON-TURBO 3rd gen!?!?
I was driving past a dealership here in town and i noticed they had a 3rd gen for sale $17,900. They guy says its a 92 non-turbo. I wasn't aware they made any non-turbo 3rd gens and i thought in america the years were from 93-95. If anyone can clear this up for me i would appreciate it.
Thanks john |
Hey, you're close to me. It shouldn't be a '92 or non turbo you are correct. They were all turbo and from 93-95 in America. And I find it doubtful that someone converted it to N/A..
The only place that got 3rd gens in '92 would be the U.K, Japan, and maybe down under. That would mean even if it was a '92 imported from Japan or somewhere else that it would be right hand drive. It could have a build date of '92 if it's a '93 I guess but shouldn't be listed anywhere on paperwork as a '92. |
I heard some rumors, about a limited number of 92 FDs released on the Japanese market. As to the accuracy of these rumors i cant say but this isnt the first time ive heard of 92 FDs. About the non-turbo though, i highly doubt it, that engine was made specifically to go hand in had with those turbos.

i know right. it just sounds really wierd. apparently the car used to be owned by the son of the owner of utz. thats what the dealer says anyway.

A 1.3L Naturally Aspirated? That thing would be as slow as a Civic
|
The only thing I can say you might want to look under the hood and see if it has a BOV, intercooler, all the signs of a turbo that should be easy to see up front. As for the year maybe you can try running th vin through carfax, or something like that but I am not sure what that'll tell you. What dealer is this car at?

ALL fd's came from the factory w/ Twin Turbo 13b REW engines, the JDM models start with the 92 model year and build dates as early as 10/91 interestingly enough Convertible 2nd gen production overlaped with fd production until at least 12/91
North American models were introduced in JAN 92 (with first deliveries in April) as 93s and can have build dates as early as 12/91, My 93 has a build date of 2/92, which would normally be a 92 model year build date. Model year production usually starts in August or September of the previous year and continues through June of that year. with July/August used for model Change over (if any) |
Just look under the hood.
|
Please do find out what the story is...I am very curious!

Black, you are wrong. All FD are twin turbo. There is not NA anywhere. The only NA FD in Japan are modded one. Not from factory.

No I didn't mean N/A from the factory neo omega, I mean't it's doubtful someone over here converted it to N/A. Yes, I know they only came in TT versions from the factory. I told him to look under the hood to make sure that no one did convert it to N/A. I am almost 100% sure it's a normal TT like they all were, but hey ya never know, and I don't want to tell him it's def a TT and have him buy it and find out that someone did convert it to N/A. So that's why I told him to look under the hood.

On the contrary, there are probably a couple FD NA's. In Mike Ancas's book he mentions one. And at SS4 a red one was there.
Not only that, but they are 12A carburated. They participate in a certain class of racing that require them to do such a conversion. Complain all you want, but I find it nice to have some FD's salvaged from the junk yard, put in a 12A and have the car back at the track where it belongs. |
Ahhh Nuts! My bad. Your right. 13BREW in NA form in a 2nd gen chassis.
The clincher is the in the separate clutch fluid reservior. Crispy |

Wise ass!
When are you going to get that 10year project done anyways? You should be working on your car rather than hanging around this forum Crispy |
