1600cc inj
just wondering would the 550/1600 be a good, would i have any issues? i was looking at the rx7store kit. I was going to go with 1300s but i hear many people getting in the 90s range. My turbos are Seq and i am already in the 90s and almost hit 100 once and at stock boost, i dont want to take anymore chances. Plus is i want to go single anytime in the near future i'd have that all done.
I didnt want to go 850/850s or 850/1300 since i dont want to be running rich at idle, since this is a semi daily driver What do you all think? |
if you dont want to run rich at idel then go 550/1680.. you will still have stock idel with the 550, if your tuner is good then the transistion will not be noticable.

transition from what, the primary to the secondary

If you want it to run nice, get the FJO injector driver. Much easier to tune and it works better then resistors.

sorry FJO? i never heard of this. A little more info if you please
|
Fjo injector driver for low resistance peak and hold injectors such as the 1600 cc. Most people running ecu's such as the pfc end up using resistors to protect the injector drivers in the ecu. This isn't the best way to run them but works quite well. The injector driver is a more proper way but costs more money. If you go with the 1600cc which are actually 1680 but whatever, you will need a new fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator. The 1300cc have a higher failure rate but would most likely flow enough for your needs with the stock turbos. 1200 have a lower failure rate but can still fail. The 850/850 would be the most cost effective and will most likely flow enough for you but you need a datalogit to get the idle leaned out enough using negative lag. And the pfc commander only goes up to 1500cc. Thats if you're using the pfc. You didn't say what ecu you're using.

I'm using the PFC and not using the stock turbos (BNR stage 3),.. i knew i would need a fuel rail and all that, thats why i was looking to get the rx7store kit which comes with everything. i wasn't to lean on the idea of using the 1300s because hearing people say they were in/around the 90% INJD, at 15psi making this many hp, and i dont want to be to restricted by the inj or in the 90%s anymore. i have already hit 99% before.
|
Your not going to hit 90% injector duty on the BNR's with 1300cc secondaries. Or even 85% for that matter. If you get 1600 secondaries, you need to use resistors which aren't perfect but work. If you can afford it, get the FJO injector driver instead of resisters which is the proper way of doing it.

So even if he is running a PFC he needs to add resistors to the injectors to operate them correctly?

where to buy fjo injector driver?
|
I bought it from ebay but you might be able to get it cheaper elsewhere. Try contacting FJO directly.

doesnt the rx7store Extreme Fuel System come with the resistors?
|
Yes, but resistors are cheap. It'll work but the FJO Peak & Hold injector driver is the correct way to go.

ok and lets say i were to do the 850/1300s would i get the modded primary rail or mod the injectors instead. which would be easiest.... also when should i get a Fuel regulator?

Rewire the fuel pump too. It will lower the duty cycles and is very easy to do.
|
I know this is belated but FJO now offers a high impedance top feed 1600, and the PFC goes higher than 1500cc injectors with the datalogit
|
Word of advice, overbuild your fuel system. More chances then not you are going to want more later, we all do. Go with 850/1680 with a single pump. If and when you start getting serious you can just add another pump and be covered for 500whp.
|
^ Don't do 850 primaries!

Also perhaps consider using 4 injector dynamic/yaw power injectors. You could idle good on 1000 cc injectors. These would eliminate the need for resistors or the fjo injector driver. Just an option.
