12v under seat

I just had the leather redone in my car, and I was cleaning my 7 completly when I came across a plug under the driver seat, theres a connector on it that has the wires stripped, looks fresh cut, tested and its putting out 12v....what is this?

Most likely the sensor wire for the seat belt warning light. It makes the light go out when you put on your seat belt.

They might have forgotten to unplug it and yanked it loose when removing the seat.

hmmmmm, ill check on that, the only thing that struck me as strange is that its comming out dead center from the floor beneath the seat. If its not tripping that light I may try using it to power my satellite radio instead of using the cig adapter

the belt light stays on for about 10 secs when ignition is turned on than turns off and stays off, its always done this....normal?

DaleClark 01-19-06 09:15 PM

That's normal. If you plug your seat belt in, it goes out instantly.

May have been cut by a previous owner or something, too.
