12V source?

Does anyone know if/where a 12V source when the engine is running only? I'm aware of the IG1 wire and while the rx7 seems to have an IG2, it appears they are the same (active when thekey is turned). Im looking for a wire that is ONLY hot when the engine is running.

Anyone? I need the wire color/harness location. Thanks.

^ thats the the PDF of ALL the wires in your car. So just look for a 12V and see where it leads.

thanks I have the wiring diagram, while I appreciate the link, I can read that as well as I can read chinese. I just need to know the wire,

anyone?

I haven't verified it, but by the looks of the schematic I think the switched-side of the Circuit Opening Relay does what you want.

IGN ON = OFF
CRANK = +12V
RUN = +12V

Wire color is Blue/Red and routes to the Fuel Pump relay and the Fuel Pump Resistor. Be sure to use a relay rather than directly power your device from this line (especially if this is for a WI pump).

Look at the fuse panel near the dead-pedal. Just above the cover for the fuse panel you should see two unused (at least on my 93 R1) female spade sockets. I don't remember about the left one, but the one on the right is hot when the key is ON. All you need is a male spade connector.

Eh, never mind, I didn't notice at first, but it looks like you need it on the engine side. Can't delete for some reason. Sorry. :)

Run the ingnition wire from your radio wiring harness inside the car through the fire wall to a relay. Have the relay run 12v strait off the battery.

thanks, but please re-read the thread. The ignition radio wire is active when you first turn the key. That will not work for me. I need the wire to be hot ONLY when the engine is running.

thanks.

david, i think youre out of luck on that. . . in order for that to work. . . mazda would had to have made the ignition switch like this: off---acc---start---run. it is like this in stock form: off---acc---run---start. . . mazda would have no need for making a circuit like you request nor is it really possible (AFAIK). the key ALWAYS returns to RUN. so there for. . . anything that turns on when the engine is running will turn on (electrically) when the key is simply rotated to the RUN position on the switch.

i think youre either stuck with a manual operation switch or youll have to come up with some new circuit.

good luck,
paul

btw, what in the world do you need this for?

Thanks paul, but im not so sure. For example, the AC compressor doesn't come on unless the engine is running, etc. I know some cars have this, but you are probably right.

I'm working on something top secret, hehe.

i had the same idea with the a/c compressor. . . BUT the a/c compressor is operated by head pressure. its only on when the engine runs. . . right. . . that doesnt mean that the electrics dont go to it when the key is in the RUN position. . . notice, you can hit the a/c button on the dash and the led comes on.

top secret!!!!! just as long as it isnt a butt plug!!!!! hahahaha

Can you PLEASE just leave me alone. I dont follow you around in your threads posting crap like this. You dont like me, I dont care. leave me and my threads alone unless you have something to contribute.

You really need to grow up.

See, you've got me laughing already. How could I not be interested in what the least intelligent member of the 3rd gen. community is working on?!? I need entertainment just as much as the next guy.

BTW, anyone smart enough to be working on a top secret project should probably be capable of reading a wiring diagram and using a multimeter to find their own fucking wire...

ZeroBanger, just in case, don't overlook this:

It's 12+ only when the engine is running or cranking.
