1/4 mile, slick time reduction?

i've searched and didn't come up with anything relevant(maybe I just wasn't using the right words)

What kind of reduction in quarter mile times would I see if I were using slicks compared to street tires?

humpity bumpity

anyone have a good guess?

for instance I ran a 13.5@110 on VERY hard, bald tires and my first time to the track. TONS of wheelspin, had to shift to 3rd to get any traction. ok you get the picture.

now, what's the difference between a decent set of street tires and a set of ET's or someting?
.5sec? .75sec?

110 is a good mph! I bet you would drop almost a full second from the previous time. But realize you are going from zero traction to full traction.

On average, drag radials get you a couple of tenths and slicks about half a second, coming from good street tires.

What are your mods?

I ran a 13.0 @110 on street tyres with bad 60ft times and then ran a 12.1 @ 113 with just the addition of a good set of slicks, with 1.6 60ft times.

thanks for the info guys.

Gsrsol, the day that I ran, it was quite cool. so i figured it hurt my ET, but helped my mph. my small list of mods is in my sig.

I think most average drivers get 12.8 - 13.1 with just regular street tire w/normal modifications. My best is 12.9 @ 112 @ 2400 ft above sea level.
But with launching at 6500 - 7000 with some M and H tires... 12.15 @ 114 @ 2400 above sea level.
I have heard of gifted drivers like Kyle Kruliek Kevin Wyum and Nick at N-tech get really low 12's on street tire.
I don't know how these guys do it... but must be speed shifting.
Does anyone know how these guys get some great times with just regular street tire...?

are you guys launching at 6-7k rpms with stock differential?

MazdaMike 10-15-02 09:15 AM

yea thats what im wondering how have u not cracked ur dif like a eggshell with those times.... 1.6 60ft!!

matty 10-15-02 09:35 AM

my best on 9yr old street rubber is 2.03 60'...i ran 12.72 @111.5mph. with full exhaust, intake, power fc @ 12psi.

My goal this spring is 11s with stock motor and stock twins. I have all the bolt ons now. I plan on running 15psi with mt et streets...i see no reason why this cant be done. i just need to learn how to do a nice burn outand figure out what rpm to launch at without breaking anything.

The DJ 10-15-02 09:59 AM

My best was 12.6 @ 118.86 on Dunlop Sp8000's...I was around 15-17 psi and had a 2.1 60' time. Funny thing was it was 98F outside......
