0-60mph Times Help!!!

Hey guys, tonight i was bored, so me and a friend decided to test out my car's performance.. i tried doing Technonovice's 40-70mph test.. and i think it did alright.. it did 5.74s average with 2 people in my 94 touring.. so then we decided to do some 0-60mph timings.. and all i got was like 8. something.. oh god.. what the hell is wrong with the car.. or me?? I'm no expert in driving stick, but i'm not THAT bad.. what conditions should the best 0-60 time be at..

like tire pressure..

when i should shift..

best rpm launch..

i think my clutch is worn out pretty badly.. would that affect the timing.. and also it was a bit wet out, so the street was wet, but there wasn't any tire spin..

Can someone help me out please.. i don't think that anything is wrong with the car.. or at least i hope not..

I do mine on the G-tech and get mid 4's. I do mine when it's dry and no tire spin at all cause once I spin, I spin!!

Your car is modded right.. my car is completely stock as they get..

Well most folks says rev to 4000 and slip the clutch out. You want to avoid sloppy wheel spin, but a small amt is ok. Take it to how close to the redline you are comfortable with. Lower tire pressure will help. I'm not sure how low you can safely go.

Avoid the wheel hop because that is very abusive.
0-60 runs in general a rough on a car.

So much affects the time: driver skill, weight or your friend, slightest inclines, wind, temperature, grip, etc...

What rpm are you launching at? (did you get tire spin)
What rpm is your shift point?
Did you hit 60 at near the top of second gear?
8 sec sounds extrodinarily long (even for an auto with two passengers), if it was launched correctly and shifted right, with a stock setup you should at least be able to pull off a 6.

hmm..

Yeah, that's what i thought too.. I launched at about 4k rpms with no wheel spin.. and i shifted at about 7500-8000 rpms.. just when the red started.. and yes, i hit 60 at the end of 2nd gear.. does it matter if it hits it in 2nd?

Do you have a boost gauge? When I was stock I bought my car with a torn lower intercooler hose - but I didn't know it. The car felt pretty fast but I never drove another FD. I was getting pulled on by other cars that a stock FD would rip apart. Anyway I got a boost gauge and new ic hose - WOW the car felt like a Ferrari. I was only getting 3 lbs of boost before - when fixed it was 10-8-10.Something is wrong with your car - it can be a number of things - probably you're losing boost somewhere in your vacuum lines, ic hoses, or a bad solenoid. 8 seconds is Saturn and Ford Focus territory! Find a rotary mechanic and get it fixed or you will get beat by a Civic Si or something and everyone will laugh at you - but I was there so get it fixed!

even when my car was bone stock I got low 5's with the g-tech. Plus a stop watch isn't that accurate. I remember doing 0-60 on a watch with my DSM at 7.?? then did it with my g-tech and got mid 5's
