##@&%! keyhole light staying on all the time again!

My car does this from time to time...the damned keyhole light stays on and ends up running down the battery eventually, since I rarely drive the car.
I have no idea why...it goes through cycles like this.
Annoying.

Switch for the handle is sticking maybe? I think only two things activate the keyhole light and that’s the handle itself and when the door is opened and closed. I think the ignition courtesy light is tied to the keyhole light.

I think that light and the keyhole light are controlled by CPU 2, they are on a 10 second timer or something like that. You might want to check your CPU 2.

If it is intermittent you probably have a wire shorting to ground somewhere on the ground side of the bulb wiring. The bulb is directly attached to battery power without a switch in between, the bulb lights when the wire is on the other side is shorted to ground. Attached is the wiring diagram showing the door key illumination circuit. You're going to have to carefully look a the wires between the bulb and CPU pin 113 for worn spots that could possibly ground to the chassis.

looks like I need to go tear into this...sigh.

Looking at the schematic above, I'd say that the Body CPU (#2) is suspect. The wiring from the battery to the door key/ignition switch lights is straight forward. The path to ground runs thru CPU #2 on J4-01 pin 1S is the most probable cause.
