That SUCKED!!!! Where's the video of the 7 running against the 9?????
Just kidding, sounding funky, looking good.

Androidmj 02-08-04 05:15 PM

thought the vid was great, really wanted u to rev the FD up though like what was done with the 911

93BlackFD 02-08-04 05:29 PM

will have more entertaining videos when the motor is properly seaonsed, as for now, i'm babying it

0110-M-P 02-08-04 05:56 PM

Great vid man. You can hear your 7 at idle better than you can hear the porsche revving:) Great Stuff. Did you just send your housings and stuff to gotham to get them to port it, because I am planning on doing the same thing in the next few months. If so, how much did just the porting cost if you don't mind telling.

It sounds great and will be awaiting more vids after break-in. I need a damn dig. camera, hate the stupid VHS-C stuff.

nice car man! id like to see it someday. glad to hear that its finally running, after all the trouble you have been through...

Sesshoumaru 02-08-04 06:34 PM

That is one loud exhaust :)

wot must instill fear

93BlackFD 02-08-04 06:38 PM

talk to steve kan about pricing

the bridge isn't for a street car...IMO...lots and lots and lots of tuning, takes me about 3 mins to crank it when it's really cold....but so worth it IMO

7-sins 02-08-04 06:50 PM

I like it, still would like to see the vids of it 100% ready to run

BlackBird-7 02-08-04 06:51 PM

93BlackFD: Is it a full bridgeport or just a half-bridge? I am desiding between large street port and half bridge port.

skunks 02-08-04 08:30 PM

your idle is a bit fast

93BlackFD 02-08-04 08:33 PM

it's a half bridge...

do some thought on it, there are things about the half bridge that you will need to think about....engine braking, gas mileage, emissions (if applicable), engine management/tuning, driveability, etc

it's not for the weak...i'd hate to see you get one and then curse at it down the road :)

0110-M-P 02-08-04 08:45 PM

haha thanks alot. right now my car is a daily driver, but is progressively being built towards a track car (actually is there, just don't have a daily driver car yet) My motor right now has super low compression (about 70psi, but still runs strong) and I am going to buy a core and rebuild/port it and am deciding which one to go with and from where.

I understand the other stuff you were talking about but didn't really understand what you meant by "engine braking". I know what engine braking is, but not how porting affects it.

Thanks
M-P

93BlackFD 02-08-04 09:22 PM

your car will want to hop and jolt when you try to coast in a gear....also known as engine braking

not sure if steve can tune around that, just make sure you know what you're getting into

i am thinking of doing a large street port motor and having two motors essentially, because i like to drive my car around without hassle of having to worry how long it will take to crank, etc etc

vosko 02-08-04 09:29 PM

i think most of your problems are tuning

i've seen full race full bridge motors start with a carb after two cranks...

911GT2 02-08-04 09:34 PM

So wait wait, you have a 996 Turbo, and a 1/2 bridge FD? I wanna be you!

0110-M-P 02-08-04 09:38 PM

ok so when it is heavily ported it will want to buck more than it does now? Not a real big deal to me, but I am just thinking a real big street port might be better for me anyway. From what I have read at least. I will call steve whenever I get my core motor taken apart.

93BlackFD 02-08-04 10:02 PM

not sure if it's in the tuning or the motor....like vosko said

steve is going to check the car out when he comes to alabama in march

HeatTreated 02-08-04 10:09 PM

cool vid.

Bridgeport sounds badass
definetly film a race with the Porsche sometime

Want2race 02-09-04 12:02 AM

u and ruiner.. and you didnt invite me! shame on you!

Sesshoumaru 02-09-04 12:21 AM

a street port is not for everyone and a bridge port is way out there.

Some times i regret my street port.........

partly why it's prolly tak'n him 3 min to start is the low compression.

used housing always take a bit longer to build compression.

but it shouldn't be too hard to start.
