*Very URGENT* manual tranny help
 

I'm re-doing my tranny fluid because the one I'm currently using is way too thick (Redline Heavy Shockproof) and maybe the problem to my recent shifting problems.

Long story short, I was told that next to the tranny refill hole there is another bolt where you take out and use that to measure if the tranny is full of the fluid once you fill it up.

Now I removed that extra "measuring" bolt and a ton of tranny fluid came out, doesn't that mean my tranny was overfilled with fluid?

Basically will overfilling the tranny with fluid hurt the car in any way and if so what..

Any help is appreciated because I am doing this as we speak.

Well I let most of it drain out of that extra meauring hole and my shifting has greatly improved. I couldn't get the regular drain bolt loose so I just sorta flushed it with my hand pump and pumped in some Redline MTL, which btw was recommended to me because supposedly lots of RX-7 owners use it instead of the Heavy shock proof tranny oil....

For my rear end I'll be using Royal Purple.... I forgot what weight but it's that purple bottle with the pointy yellow cap at the top.......

BTW, which redline did you use for you tranny?

On level ground you should remove the transmission oil filler plug. The fluid level should come to the bottom of the plug hole. You can verify this by sticking your pinky finger into the hole to see if any fluid will wet the end of it. If there is no oil on your finger you should add oil through the filler plug port until it starts to spill out or you can see oil on the end of your finger by checking in the manner described above. The filler plug port is located on the driver's side of the transmission above and to the rear of the drain plug. Generally it is a bad idea to overfill a transmission. Transmissions, just like anything else, have an optimum fluid capacity for proper operation. Luckily, its difficult to overfill the transmission unless you're doing it on purpose. ;) :D
