First of four episodes:

What's your take on those hose clamps they are using? Looks like what I clamp pex with for my house plumbing. Would not be fun taking one of those apart.

HiWire 11-14-22 08:55 AM

Yes, they looked like they'd be hard to take off. Maybe they didn't have anything else lying around (i.e., they don't plan to take anything off again).

Episode Two:

TwinCharged RX7 11-19-22 10:19 AM

Brings back bad memories. Coolant dripping from bell housing on a new motor is no fun.

TwinCharged RX7 11-19-22 10:20 AM

That's why every rebuild should get a coolant system pressure test before installation.

Wonder if we will see this on BaT soon? Also surprised no other mouse damage was found.

another really funny looking FD,

Federighi 12-12-22 02:08 PM

Not Rx related but about cars, hot-rodding culture + bigger picture.

Super interesting to hear this gentleman's perspective on automotive enthusiasm in relation to evolving 'generational values'. I personally really enjoyed his video and the openness of how he shared his opinion(s) freely.

Disclaimer: The point of this video isn't about 'correct vs incorrect' but an observation of how the representation of generational values have manifested themselves in our modern societal patterns of behavior. At some point he coins it the 'Pre-Boomer Value System'. Which I think is an accurate characterization; make the most of everything, nothing should go to waste, etc. Because money was based on tangible items (gold/silver), all items held an 'extended value'.

3:00 shares a great story about his Grandfather; 'appreciate what you have'.
9:30 the pendulum of time swings from extreme to another. Today we live in a 'throw-away' culture where nothing has 'real' value.

Seems to be an edited version of the movie containing none of the drama.
I wasn't aware of this movie. I had to look it up to find out how they produced it.
Turns out they built some dedicated camera cars that raced in the actual 1970 LeMans, and some mock ups for the crash scenes. Not without injury and drama.
Surely the best footage ever obtained from that era? Its amazing.
Ill have to watch the full version at some point now.

Very well done film. Highly recommended. P-cars are really growing on me. Wow what a race!

Finally had time to watch this yesterday. The MCM guys go to Japan and get a blue FD and drive all over, they even get a tour of Mazda.

I think this will be fun to keep an eye on, they are shipping it back to Australia and there will be more FD content.

Speed Academy upgrades the suspension, brakes, and wheels on a 1999 Nissan Silvia S15:

The Speed Academy series on the S15 has been good so far. I've seen that Talon series on LSC, I need to watch that.

One I've been spending a lot of time on -

REALLY good advice and how to on paint and body work. There's a 6- part series refinishing a Civic that's fantastic, it has most every type of paint issue and body issue and is a really good overview of the process. Been learning a LOT and getting geared up for my DIY paint job.
