wiring harness identification

Friends,
Having some serious confusion regarding my current wiring harness. I have a 1992 RHD Rx7 FD and am currently running an EMOD012 Adaptronic that my harness plugs into with no issues. When I searched the forum for info to fix an issue (needed help identifying a wire after DaleClark passed some much needed knowledge my way) the diagrams weren't lining up. It seems the harness is from a later model? Reason being is I've tried to move forward with an aftermarket harness and was informed that my connectors don't align with the year. Pictures included to help identify whats going on. Trying to get this car up and running before I bounce on deployment.

these connectors are the ECU connectors on the 96-2002 harness and the blue one is the dashboard harness connector

Correct. That is a 16bit harness. So a couple possibilities here: your car is not a 92 or someone swapped the front and firewall harness for a 16bit. The engine, front and firewall harness come as a set and they plug into each other. You can't mix and match early with late and manual with auto.... for the rhd anyway.

A write up doesn't exist for the rhd x05 repin as it does for the lhd (that we're aware of). From experience, that write up doesn't translate to the jdm harness when doing an AT->MT swap and trying to utilize an MT engine harness.

The Japanese have been known to do some wild things so it's possible you have a 92 with a 16bit harness set swapped in. It could also be possible you don't have a 92. Does your chassis number start with FD3S-100~?

Not totally uncommon and probably a result of a wheel rubbing or engine fire, as early harnesses are no longer thick on the ground. Mostly seems to happen with importers here.

If it hasn't been done already and they've just missed the dash and firewall harnesses, easiest fix is totally replacement of electrical system front to rear, you'll probably find your red label ABS isn't working if they've grafted that in somehow too.
